tallhair Wrote:Nothing today but spent all last weekend washing and detailing it as it had been in storage for a decade. The prior several weekends were spent organizing the storage garage to where I could get it out and on a trailer to bring it home. I still haven't got it fired up but I got the car skates put together and under the car. I spent Friday researching and buying parts. Yesterday spent all day over at the old homestead going through parts. I found I had a 68 R/T rear finish panel I had forgot about and a set of 68 heater / fan controls. I also brought a 67 woodgrain steering wheel and a 68-70 style one home as well. The 67 steering wheel is in nice shape and the 68-70 one is not.
Richard/anyone do you know if the solid spoke 67 style wood grain was ever put in 68 R/Ts? Perhaps early in the run? My car's SPD was 911. If I can work up the energy I'll go wash the grime off the parts and post some pics of the steering wheels.
I also found (3) 7 blade clutch fans but not sure which one is correct for a 68 R/T. Mine has non-clutch fan presently but would like to upgrade when i get to pulling the fan out for a potential radiator rod/clean.
Starting to think I should have posted this elsewhere since I asked several questions. Where is best place here?
I've learned over the years to never say never when it comes to older Mopars and their parts, but I'd say that it would be fairly unlikely that a 1967 style wood grain steering wheel would have been used on a 1968 model due to the two different designs of the wood grain wheels.
Below are all of the part numbers for the 1966 through 1970 factory wood grain steering wheels. Of those model years, only the 1968 and 1969 versions used the identical part number.
1966 model year part number: 4016VTT, factory parts book section 19-30-4, used on A and B-Body models
(this same 1966 version of the wood grain steering wheel was also previously offered through the 1966 "Chrysler Parts Hi-Performance & Dress-Up Parts" catalog under the same part number 4016VTT for all 1964 through 1966 A-Body cars with a suggested list price of $28.82)
1967 model year part number: 4016CTT, factory parts book section 19-30-4, used on A and B-Body models
1968 model year part number: 4016DTT, factory parts book section 19-30-4, used on A and B-Body models
1969 model year part number: 4016DTT, factory parts book section 19-30-4, used on A, B, and C-Body models
1970 model year part number: 4016FTT, factory parts book section 19-30-4, used on A, B, and C-Body models

Engine flush, oil and filter change, took it for a short drive. has sat for so long it was pretty slugged on top of the rockers. may have to flush again after a few thousand miles.
Removed crank pulley for strip, clean & repaint. started to clean & detail the windshield squirters.

Thanks Richard I really appreciate the effort / info in that post. I'll probably clean the 67 up eventually and post it up for sale then. I have a 68 that will definitely need a rebuild.
Drove The Ultimate Driving Machine Max to work this morning.
Put regulator and alt. belt on Morgan yesterday or was it Wednesday?
Starting to make changed to the Challenger. Removed the air shocks. Added R/T hood & side stripes. Removed some of the bling from under the hood. Still a long way to go. Starting to collect parts for a 6 pack. (Picked up a Center Carb) The wheels have to go, so today I'm going to see if they will fit on the wifes 68 firebird convertible. The wheels have 2 bolt patterns. Just worried about if the the offset will work on her car.
