  '66 Coronet outer wheelhouse...end caps...cross member...
Posted by: derek - 04-21-15, 10:04 PM - Forum: Coronet Restoration/Paint Shop/Body Shop - Replies (3)

Having trouble finding outer wheelhouses for 66-67. Should I order the 68-70 and make them work, or are there any other ideas or resources?

Also need to find end caps for my trunk floor extensions.

And one more - rear cross member where the bumper reinforcements are located. Found some on Auto Body Specialty, but there is just a diagram, no picture. Is that what I need?

727 torqueflite extra capascity oil pan.
Posted by: Hibbing_Coronet_500 - 04-20-15, 03:00 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (5)

I am rebuilding my 727 myself.
I have it apart and it looks real good inside. Today I will be driving out all necessary bushing and replacing them.
New clutches and steels. New rings and servo seals.
4 Pinion planets. And bolt in sprag.
Trans go manual valve to charge converter in park.

I want to put a end to the leaking! I know it due to converter drain back. Ultimately the converter oil fills a already full pan. Then fluid begins to seep out from where ever it can.

My thoughts are:
Buy a deep / extra capascity oil pan with proper filter extension to keep filter down into the pan.
Then use the same quantity of oil as if using a stock pan. (9 qts)

Now we have extra room in the pan for oil to drain into. Hopefully it will all remain below the pan to gasket seal.
Thus ending the seepage from a over full pan due to converter drain back.

Think it will work?

Motor twisting on mounts and running poorly
Posted by: tkarman - 04-19-15, 08:21 PM - Forum: The Swan Song Years 1971-1976 - Replies (10)

Finally spring and warm weather are here in Seattle so I just uncovered the 72 coronet today to take it out on a quick drive around. It fired up no problem and it purred after warming up a bit. I drove it about 3 miles without problem then I went over some railroad tracks which shook the car up a bit but not terrible. After the tracks the car suddenly started having trouble idling. It died on me at a few lights but I was able to get home. I at first I thought maybe bad fuel from sitting so I filled it up with 92 octane(about 9 gallons). When I got it home I opened up the hood and noticed the engine had twisted toward the passenger side about 5-10 degrees or so. I lifted the front of the car and took a look at the motor mounts. The metal looked intact just the bushing was compressed on the passenger side as well as the transmission mount looking all twisted. I started the car up and put it in reverse which slowly twisted the engine back to center where it stopped. Now I can barely keep the engine running at idle. It will run rough with the RPMs up which makes me think possibly a vacuum leak was created when the engine twisted but I've checked all vacuum hoses I can see.

Questions are:
What the hell is causing the engine to twist?
What should I check on the engine that may be causing it to die at idle.

  Choke issues
Posted by: Warhawkfight34 - 04-17-15, 10:07 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

Ok. I need someones help. I have a brand new six pack set up with a brand new choke. I also have a new valley pan with the heat risers blocked off. The issue I am having is that the choke isn't getting hot enough to close. Does anyone have a remedy to this or experience with this issue?

Thanks,

  Some more 68 Coronet Questions
Posted by: slimert - 04-10-15, 10:48 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Okay before I dive in I need to do a little research (and save some money for this project!)

Did 68 Coronets have an option to have head rests on the bucket seats?

Is it possible to get the head rests added to existing bucket seats?

How rare is the paint color Medium Dark Turquoise Metallic?

Thanks, Mike
