  Removing the fan - trick?
Posted by: knoxnagel - 07-04-15, 10:28 AM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (3)

I am trying to remove the fan and the shroud on my 1976, and the Haynes manual just says to loose the 4 bolts on the water pump and things come right off. Well, I feel like an idiot. When I try to rotate those bolts to loosen them, then tire fan and clutch assembly turns right with me. I haven't found a way to hold the assembly well turning the bolts.

i know on newer dodge trucks there is a special wrench to hold the assembly in place, but am I missing something here? I feel like a total idiot.

67 Coronet 500 383 HP - original 383 manifolds. What was the original main exhaust pipe diameter and the tailpipe diameter? I believe the tailpipes were smaller than the main pipes - correct?

B body big block oil pan replace
Posted by: Mark's 69 - 06-16-15, 01:38 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (9)

I have been experiencing oil pressure drop when climbing steep grades, especially on turns. I am looking at a six quart pan and pick up from Summit. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3511 , http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3509 . It looks like the pan won't be too much of a problem to change with the engine in the car, but does anyone know if the pick up can be changed with out pulling the engine? Also I am not using a windage tray because of this warning that came with a mopar performance cam: It is also not recommended to use any type of oil restrictors to the lifter galley, windage trays, or baffles, or plug any oil return holes in the lifter valley. Oil has a twofold purpose; it not only lubricates, but it also draws the heat away from whatever it comes in contact with. The cam needs oil splash from the crankcase and oil run-back from the top of the engine to help draw the heat away. Without this oil flow, all the heat generated at the cam is transferred to the lifter, which can contribute to premature wear and/or failure. I don't do any racing so is a windage tray necessary?

Hello from Houston, TX. Dodge Newbie here!
Posted by: Moe832 - 06-16-15, 12:13 PM - Forum: New Members - Replies (12)

I just purchased my first American Classic car this past weekend.
It is a 1965 Dodge Coronet 440. Four door.
I was always into the Old beetle cars and this is all new for me.
I am completely blinded when it comes to this car.
I do not know anything about it, but I will learn.
I just love this car, reason why I bought it!

I know I will definitely be visiting this website quite frequently while I get my car the way I want it!

The car is a rolling project. It is driving, even though I did notice today that it was over heating. Hope it is nothing mayor.

I do not know what type engine is in it.

But here is a picture of the car!
