I wish everyone a great safe and healthy holidays, and do as many burnouts or road trips in your Mopars whatever kind they are. We love them all on here.

Now for myself I am enjoying my `58 Powerwagon to get me to work in the winter while Tank is being overhauled which I expect next spring to be back on the road.

69 convertible 500 rocker panel question
Posted by: 31ctg - 11-15-19, 07:48 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

I was hoping to get some advice for rocker panels for convertibles.
I am looking at getting inner and outer rocker panels (drivers side / LHS) for my 1969 coronet 500 convertible.
Some web sites suggest that panels are for Non-Convertibles.
I spoke with Stephens Performance and they suggested that the inner rocker panel for convertibles may have an additional bar welded on to help stiffen it. They also said the outer rocker should be identical as to what Auto Metal Direct sells. The panels for sale at AMD are linked below:
http://www.autometaldirect.com/advanced_...er&x=0&y=0

Or, maybe someone knows of another option to buy these rockers. Fabricating them from scratch is fairly expensive.
I know picture are King here, so I found one to share.
I have had great advice and help from the forum in the past - may pictures of my 69 vert are uploaded here already.
Thank you

I would love guidence and opinions about upgrading my worm out 318 poly
Posted by: pistolero5150 - 11-12-19, 01:28 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I've owned my '65 Coronet 440 for about 13 years. It's the original motor that has gone around the clock a few times before I even took ownership. It's run so good for me until now. She blows smoke like a steam train. I want to keep this car. So I am seeking your advise and ideas on which way I go to. I am not looking to rebuild the 318 poly. I understand it's cheaper and better to replace it with something else. I was told that getting a 360 would be a good option. As it's not for racing and I like the reliability the 318 gave me. Forgive my ignorance but I am guessing the 3 speed auto in my car is the 727?! I have no problem replacing my transmission as it too has been around the block. I am wanting to replace the motor, trans and diff now that I am in the position to do so. With all the knowledge and wisdom here. For a year of Coronet. Would this 360 be something I could work with?https://www.jegs.com/i/ATK-Engines/059/HP73C/10002/-1
As soon as I find the motor I can fit in this car, the sooner I can start piecing together parts. So recommended transmission and diff for this would be great. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me piece together getting this car back on the road again.

Need advice to keep my '65 Coronet 440 alive.
Posted by: pistolero5150 - 11-10-19, 10:05 PM - Forum: New Members - Replies (1)

Hi guys. I used to use this forum many years ago. I have a '65 Coronet 440 with the 318 poly. The poor thing has finally given up on me. It spews smoke like a freight train. It's been around the block for the last time. I want to know what my options are. I have done everything on my car myself, but rebuilding the motor I don't feel is way out of my comfort zone. I was really hoping I could find a "crate motor" and then use a local shop to switch the engines out for me. But I haven't found any rebuilt 318 polys online as of yet.

Looking at other Coronets for sale online I have noticed that it seems common to swap the 318 to the 383. And honestly. I am open to anything that makes sense as ideally, this is a car I want to keep and pass down to my son. I've driven it reliably since before he was born and he is 12 years old now. The body is straight and not full of rust. It's a gem to drive. Or was before it started smoking so crazily. I am in Portland Oregon, and don't know any Mopar guys around here to even know where to start. I have always dreamt of someday replacing the drive train with new and solid gear. And if it did end up easier to upgrade to a larger engine. I am for all for that. Please let me know your thoughts and advice. I truly appreciate it!

1965 Coronet 4 speed lubrication confusion
Posted by: finz68 - 09-16-19, 01:47 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (15)

When I first purchased my Coronet, the shop that I used to flush and replace all fluids put Dextron 3 into the gearbox saying that was the required lubricant after research. I am planning on taking the car on a fairly long trip soon and am uptight that it doesn't have 90w gear oil. Should I be? Thank you!

  Holley customer service
Posted by: 65rbdodge - 09-13-19, 08:18 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I have a Holley 750 street hp on the 400 in my dart. I bought it new in 2005 I started having issues with it so I took it apart and found that the plating on the inside was cracked and peeling/flaking. I sent Holley an email explaining what is going on. They asked for pictures and numbers from the carburetor which I sent them a few days later. A few weeks went by before I heard back from them. They asked me to send the carb to them. 2 days later they called me and said it couldn’t be repaired and the were sending me a brand new carb free of charge. I was shocked! Great customer service!

Posted by: danielgbrooks@yahoo.com - 09-02-19, 01:47 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hi All,
I just bought a 65 coronet convertible and it's complete but completely disassembled, Anyone know how the top attaches to the car? or possibly have pictures of the assembly and final finished product? Cars going to paint next week then right to the top installers. They probably know how it goes together but want to have some kind of idea for myself. Thanks

Anyone in town? Going?
Weather has been great here so far.
Again this is a right of passage for ANY car guy. Has to be experienced at least once in life.
