  '58 Coronet Windshield Wipers
Posted by: acer - 06-08-20, 12:36 AM - Forum: The Early Years - Replies (1)

My '58 Coronet Windshield wiper motor broke and I'm looking to replace it with something new instead of trying to find the original motor. Does anyone have any suggestions of something that works well with the least customization?

  Power steering box issues
Posted by: Mark's 69 - 06-05-20, 12:25 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (6)

Has anyone rebuilt a power steering box? It looks kinda complicated in the service manual. Mine has a lot of play and I tried adjusting the screw on top and it didn't help. That's when I noticed the input shaft is walking in and out an excessive amount as it turns back and forth. The input shaft seal is leaking a crazy amount when the front end is jacked way up. Just to be clear the play is in the steering box, the ball joints, torsion bars, lower control arm bushings, inner and outer tie rod ends were replaced in the past few years and the idler arm and pitman arm are brand new.

You might remember my previous thread on my new motor for my 67 Coronet drag car that I have owned since 1981.

The new motor is a B1MC headed mega block motor. Dyno date is June 17. Can't wait............

  Long over due

I've owned ths car since 1989, you don't really notice them but for as long as I remember it had these gray colored stains on the paint surrounding most of the trim. I've tried many times to "clean" it off using different cleaners & waxes as well as using brushes - never had any luck. Well I decided to get serious -

Here is a pic of the left tailite - see the gray stain on the paint around the "C" shaped trim? Also you can see it above and below the trunk trim.

To make thing easier I decided to remove the outer trunk trim, letters, lock cylinder and reverse lite assemblies. You can really see the stains with the parts removed.

What I ended up using to remove the stains, get ready to cringe . . . Acetone, wiping with a paper towel or using a toothbrush.

Here it is after cleaning off all the stains and waxing the pain - looks much better now. I cleaned and reinstalled the reverse housings, lock cyl & letters.

Next is to do some minor straitening of the upper & lower trim pieces before re-installing them - Does anybody know where I can get the plastic clips for the trunk trim?12065

Maybe this Queen song is an appropriate theme song for the world in 2020?

The Bothwell Car show held in Bothwell, Ontario Canada has been cancelled for this year

This sucks because was a hell of a fun car show

So far the only big show not to get cancelled has been MoparFest

Guys, I'm drawing a blank what to change here. New forums, get rid of stagnant ones, Fixing the picture upload so it shows on main page is a no go, it's actually built into the software to not be there. There may be an add-on but last time I checked there wasn't

Throw some ideas out there and if it makes sense I'll try to figure out how to add it.

Sorry for delay in starting this, Corvid-19 has had my mind occupied in other ways.
