Changed oil, took a ride, lifter tick now.
Posted by: Red 67 - 08-20-17, 10:55 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Morning boys. I changed my oil/filter yesterday, used Lucas 10w30 and Purolator filter. Greased everything up, washed my hands and took her for a 20 mile ride. Got home and she's ticking at idle. Flat tappet engine with slightly over stock cam. Nothing radical. Lucas is high in zinc, and 10-30 is what the previous owner said he used. Should I try 10-40/20-50?

Thanks
Matt

  New Guy from Central CA

Used to be a member years ago, but due to mobility/health issues I had to park my '68 Coronet 500 convertible (and '69 Firebird 400) in the garage for 11 years. Got it running last week and had to re-register. My uncle bought it new, sold it to his dad and I bought it from my grandfather about 20 years ago. The car was from (western) Pennsylvania so it has it's fare share of rust. My in-laws bought new seat covers when I first bought the car. While I was at it, I replaced the carpet. I would like to restore it some day, but being on a fixed income not sure when that will happen. Here's a few pics and you can see the rest of the pics on my website below.

  1966 Coronet 500 fender emblem
Posted by: j57little - 08-13-17, 04:06 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Hello Everyone,

I recently had a small accident with my 66 Coronet 500 getting it parked and I damaged the Coronet 500 fender badge/emblem. I can imagine they're hard to come by, but if anyone knows a source for a replacement, please advise.

Thank you!

Jack

So yesterday was a beautiful morning and I decided to take the car to work. Its about 44 miles to work.
I work near Rich in Watertown. Anyways about 15 mins into the ride my car lost power and was shaking and
knocking bad! Like someone just retarded the distributer a whole turn. The car did not over heat and no hoses were blown. And the car starts with no problems, its just when you excel. I am going to figure it out tonight. Just figured I'd throw it out there.

Thanks for any help or recommendations.

Trans leaking like a sieve after parked-couple other leaks.
Posted by: 67RTBlue - 08-03-17, 12:03 AM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (12)

Ever since I messed with the kickdown link it seems to have gotten worse. I had a small drop coming from the bottom of the bell housing but now it's leaving a trail on the garage floor. (Cardboard down) I thought I remember reading somewhere about the linkage adjustment and a valve inside the trans that allows the fluid to drain back into the pan causing a leak. But why would it be coming from the bell housing area? Tranny was rebuilt new seals and all.
Also the rear main or rear of the pan have been leaking ONLY while driven. The oil pump to block also weeping a bit not too bad. Motor also full rebuild. Driving me crazy and making a mess of the pristine undercarriage.
Thoughts tips??

I took this pic a couple years ago when I spotted it in a parking lot. Was talking about it yesterday at work and found the pic. Sorry for crappy screen shot! Couldn't find anything online.
