Keep a fire extinguisher in your car!

Just happened backing out of the garage. It's bad, but it could have been a disaster. No stop watch but I've never moved so fast. I bet she burnt less than 25 seconds.

Heres why.

  I'm NOT a mechanic...
Posted by: Robb - 06-13-17, 07:12 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I have a 1958 Coronet with a 325 poli motor. The battery is pretty new and holds a charge. The car starts great off a cold start, turns over for 2-4 seconds and catches with regularity. If you run it a few minutes and shut it down it will restart with a noticeable lag. If you drive for a few minutes or more, a few miles or more, it won't restart. Wait an hour, it starts right up again.
I had an elderly gentleman at a show tell me that he had the same problem with a similar model Dodge in his past. His opinion is that there is inadequate shielding between the motor and the starter solenoid. Over time it is exposed to too extreme of heat and it is hard on the starter motor.
I am no mechanic, but I can do simple stuff. If the solenoid is indeed the problem is it likely the starter will need to be replaced also?

If some brothers have opinions based on Coronet experience or otherwise let me know your thoughts?

  Magnum Wheel Width
Posted by: Xtro - 06-12-17, 09:56 AM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (8)

Does anybody know how wide I can go on the rears of a 1969 Coronet RT without any rubbing issues. It has 15 x 7 at the moment with 225 all round. I wanted to get some new rears rims & tyres. I was hoping for at least 275 but would love 295. Thanks for any info in advance

Looking for any documents of my '69 Coronet With VIN WS23L9E112164
Posted by: Wietse - 06-12-17, 03:29 AM - Forum: Car History -- Build Sheet Lost & Found - No Replies

Hi all,

New here and recently owner of a '69 Coronet R/T, with VIN WS23L9E112164.
This number was found on the engine block, and the last 8 digits were confirmed on the chassis on the radiator support and trunk lid lip.
The car has no fender tags, or build sheet with it, as it must have been imported i am hoping to find someone who might have some history on this car.
From what i have been told here in the Netherlands from the guys who are in the scene for quite some time someone remembers seeing this car here in 1997.
So anywhere between the '70's en 1997 the car was shipped over, unfortunately the registration was done illegal as it took the VIN and licence plates from a Coronet 500 that already was registered here. (VIN as per registration: WP23G0A131914)
This was done a lot years ago here with import cars, an old rusty car was swapped with a fresh import, fender tags removed and a VIN was hand stamped in the body.
Here cars are not allowed to have a full VIN stated on a removable tag, instead it had to be stamped.
The current color is Sublime green, although the color i found during some repair work was a dark green color on the battery support frame and brackets.

I hope someone recognizes this car and might still have some documentation, build sheet or fender tag lying around.

Thanks for reading!

Wietse

Hi all from the Netherlands 69 Coronet R/T owner
Posted by: Wietse - 06-12-17, 03:15 AM - Forum: New Members - Replies (6)

Hi all,

New here.
Recently owner of a 1969 Coronet R/T, Sublime green with a 440 HP engine and 727 auto tranny.
Signed in here to read some more info and help and hopefully provide some as well with my knowledge gained so far.

The cars registration shows it has been sold new here in the Netherlands in 1970, although the current VIN # of the car that has been stamped in the chassis (required to be stamped here) does not match the cars data and is a false registration which happened a lot with these cars years ago.
Most likely it got another Coronet registration and they illegally transfferred the VIN and licence plates.

The car was bought in the understanding to be not a matching #'s which i and the seller realized.
After spending some time on the car and reading about matching numbers i decided to at least check to find some digits and found that the full VIN was stamped on the engine, matching everything on the car, and found the same last 8 digits in the radiator support and below the trunk lid rubber seal.
VIN as per registration: WP23G0A******, VIN found on the engine and chassis: WS23L9E******

All in all a good buy i guess, the only thing not being original is most likely the paint color, as far is i know this color was introduced in 1970.
But as they car must have been imported at some point i am hoping to find on this forum a previous owner or documentation of the car from it's time in the US.

See you around!

Wietse

Found this on Craigslist about a month ago, watched it for about 2 weeks, finally decided to call the guy. He says: yep it's still here, a lot of people called about it but nobody showed up to get it. I said if it's as nice as your description says it is I'll take it. 1 NOS 67 grille in perfect condition. I think I did ok for $275 10897]10898]10899]10900]10901]

  1/18 scale Coronet Club Coupe
Posted by: Jim 68cuda - 06-09-17, 04:20 PM - Forum: The Early Years - No Replies

Just noticed that American Excellence now has the new 1/18 scale Dodge Coronet Club Coupe, by BoS (Best of Show), in stock.BoS models look great and have beautiful exterior detail. The interiors look good too. BoS models are heavy but have no opening features and no chassis detail. But if you collect 1/18 scale diecast cars, and need an early 50's Dodge in your collection, this is the only one thats ever been made in this scale. In fact, I believe its the only early 50's Mopar available in this scale. BoS models are typically limited editions. When sold out, they are no longer available. However, in the case of the 57 Imperial they did in 1/18 scale, they sold out quick enough to convince them to release another 57 Imperial in a different color. Bottom line is, if you want one, don't wait to see if they ever do another color.
In photos, like the ones shown here, the BoS model cars look real. The one part that they consistantly do poorly are the vent windows. The separation between the vent window and the door glass is merely printed on the side glass as it is in these photos.

Hi all, I am looking to buy a 1969 Coronet RT that is for sale locally here in Perth, Australia. Im a matching numbers car guy and Im wondering where is the best place to get info on the engine and gear box numbers. Everything on the Vin number checks out with it being a 440 magnum with manual transmission and is a genuine RT. Does anyone know what gearbox should be in the car. There is a W88 4 speed in it.. The Vin number is WS23L9G138128. It was imported from the US in 2010 and Im told it was in the Mentor Speed Museum. Any help appreciated
Cheers, Rob

  15" Magnums
Posted by: Red 67 - 06-07-17, 09:44 AM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (9)

I've had a set of Magnum 500's on order since April. They are backordered thru Summit who gets them from Wheel Vintigues. Wheel Vintiques says they don't have the parts to build them. Called Specialty Wheel co and they don't have 15x6. Plan was to run 15x6 in front and 15x8 in the rear. Is anyone running 15x7 in the front and if so what tire size?
Thanks
Matt

What a nice job Richard has done with these. I received them yesterday, and HAD to put them on before work today. Got the hood done, will do the trunk tonight. Very high quality and identical to the originals. Before and after-
