Thanks

I am mocking up brakes on it next
Started stripping left front fender and found some bad body repair under a load of bondo/filler. Looks like hit was along time ago due to repainted bronze over again, then more bondo/filler and then blue.

I can fix it, I think . I am no body man for sure but gotta learn.

Still no progress on axle yet, too busy at work and no room to mock up
Doesn't look too bad.

I was just going flat hood but I think this one will look cool on there and it really has a 340 under the hood just like the callout emblems say Smile Usually these have GTS emblems on it but there are no holes drilled so that will make it easy swap for me.

That's a 69 hood is it not?

Hi Mark, the hood could have been `68 or 9 it came with `69 call out bezels for the raised sections but no holes where front emblems like GTS bolted on near grill so no way of knowing for sure what year. Maybe a replacement hood at sometime.

I just love the looks of them, my stock hood couldn't be any flatter which to me was little boring.
I thought 68 were different but I only had 69 Darts. I love those hoods. I think I still have a pretty good hood molding for one.
The axles for that 8 3/4 are in pretty rough shape and I do not have 5 x 4 brake set-ups that will work, plus too small anyway being 9 inch.

So I decided to buy new 5 x 4.5 axles and use bigger 10 inch brake which I do have and use wider stock wheels and still have my super cool hubcaps on there.

Sound like a plan?

I am being taught by a good friend Gary how to get metal to go back where it once was to fix that fender, it has been stretched from being hit on too hard so we are shrinking it back to shape( well he is and I'm learning) . It is amazing the memory metal has if worked properly.
That is a dying art.

Yes your right and always more to learn. I did OK job on Max considering what it looked like before, but I believe I can do better.
Junior got it's fender removed last night and looks to be the first time off. It will be easier to get to the damaged area according to my teacher. It looks nice and solid back there behind it, I am glad I took it off since there was a mystery fender bolt down in bottom I bet making a rattle nobody could ever find even when car was new I betRofl. Bolts were flying all over when be assembled back then.

I tried taking a pic of damaged area but it didn't come out very well, your right though Rich it isn't very bad just want to eliminate all that filler they had and make the body crisp again.
