just little tune-up needed
pic 1: spider gears shot
pic2: distributor out of a `57-58 Fury HP318 dual quad
pic3: original chain with lots of slop
pic4: nice clean inside and cam looks nice, heads been redone sometime, note rocker shaft oil plug missing on right front. Found plug at back of head hanging out. Still had nice oil psi with this issue.
A 340 will kill that 7 1/4 rear
Nice "tune up"
Was that dist in there when you bought it?
Are you going to change the camshaft Andy?
"A 340 will kill that 7 1/4 rear" yep,
I have parts to fix just temporary tell I find a 8 3/4
"Was that dist in there when you bought it?" yes, not sure if to use or not for now. Maybe trade someone that needs it.
"Are you going to change the camshaft Andy? " No, not now just get it running and see how it acts and plan a proper rebuild later.
Engine is running well now, I put a close to stock AVS on it. New chain, water pump, radiator flushed, one bad freeze plug, intake gasket set. I am going to pull engine maybe this summer so I am not painting it up all pretty for now just get it on the road.
Swapped spider gears and pinion seal.
Put the original master cylinder cap back on replacement (Rich)
Next is get all gauges working, put stock radio back in and luckily they did not cut dash up. And maybe do something about that front seat :0
Got out an old rusty chrome dome and thought would be perfect for the project. I only had the dome no base so I cut down a large one with a drop to it similar to one that comes with it, and polished it up a bit. I think the patina fits in well.
Looks Good - Happy New Year Andy.
Looks great, but I don't see any patina on the after shot. (not that I'm complaining)
Have you driven it?
And does it have a name yet?
nice, that air cleaner looks great on there.
