Didn't Max Wedge exhaust have a H pipe? Just for conversation sake.

more of a U shape LOL
Not what I'd call a normal production line exhaust system option on most models back then, but yes the Max Wedge cars had a pretty intricate exhaust system for it's time Andy.

Yea, H-pipe with cut outs, too bad they didn't do that, standard from the factory anymore!
Well I had an issue while on my first long test drive, I was on the freeway and flipped the toggle and all is going well 2,000 rpm at 65 then I heard a shearing noise WTF? so I pulled off the freeway to take a look. All looked great no leaks no noise so I got back on freeway flipped toggle yep there it is again this time little louder turned off OD noise gone.....turn on again bang bang thought drive shaft fell out !! turn it off ...bang bang gone drove normal.
Back to the shop we go. Pulled trans and found planetary part all over the place. I must have not noticed the bad part when I rebuilt it, the truck I pulled it out of had a zillion miles on it and must have been ready to blow I never tested od in it just drove around the block to test engine for a sale.

I had a A518 parts trans so I am swapping that OD into mine now, it will be a beafier unit and it fits right on. Lots of cleaning to do and flush everything out including the cooler and send the converter out for rebuild again. I am learning as I go here and am not a trans expert, look those parts over a little closer this time. :O
Should be back on the road this weekend if I have time.
Well darn Andy, that's not fun, but as Mopars do, even when they have a parts failure they still get you home! Sort of a silver lining in a black cloud my friend. Wink

Richard
All ours cars/trucks/Mopars seem to make it back home even with a problem your right Richard.9164]9165] Here is the part failure, it appears to have been repaired before and it failed. The A518 one is allot beafier and is a different angle cut gear so you have to make sure and use all the 518 parts for the swap.
By the way Andy, which freeway were you on when this happened?

Richard
The good old 101 to Santa Maria to go visit a friend and see his new `70 Cuda he bought, I still drove there like nothing happened and didn't tell him since he is one that would call me a tow truck.
I was going very easy on it just because everything was so new to me.
You're a good man Andy, always helping others out my friend! I am not Worthy

Rosie and me REALLY enjoyed the drive up to see you on the 101 from my son's home in Santa Monica. The 5 and the 101 are just beautiful drives by the ocean!

Please keep us posted on Jr's new transmission!

Richard
Sorry about your troubles Andy, sounds like you are taking it in good stride.
