Looks like your gonna have another cool car!
Thanks Joe

I am having no luck finding a A-body 8 3/4 housing for Junior at a reasonable price. So since I like to tinker I was reading this article about a B-body to an A-body swap, and I have those all over the place. And I have spare wheels also that I could still use those super cool hubcaps on.

I would be interested in your input

my input? that article has some wrong info in it. all b-body axels were not the same width from 62-70. early b-bodys were narrower than the later ones, don't know the #'s off the top of my head but I do know when I stand a 69 charger housing next to a 65 coronet housing there is a noticeable difference. for some reason I think the early b's were an inch wider on each side and the later ones were 2" wider on each side.
The housings themselves are the same size from 62-70. What differentiates them is the axles themselves. 68-9 are longer than 65, 66/7

5560

Now to Andy's question.. I had a 8.75 housing I sold to some kid, he was going to cut it down and put it behind his Dakota. So yea, do it.
well its been a while since I measured them but I knew there was a difference, not as much as I thought though-

When I built my dart I had an 8.75 housing shortened to stock a body length and used Yukon axels. I have heard of people using c body housings/axels and having the axels re splined. I'm not sure of the cost difference though.
Thanks for the measurements, it all helps me decide which way to go. So the B-bodies are 55ish flange to flange I see .

Getting more done on the hood last night, stripping down to bare metal since it was so roughly sprayed. Two area's I thought had dents it was just bad prep work on last paint job.
The hood is all stripped and primed ready to block out and sealer prime for now. So on to a fender now.

340FOURBARREL call outs that go in inserts should be here today, I found a guy that makes them. They are not concours restoration ones but look really cool and I am not restoring just making look coolCool.
I found a proper A-body length housing and axles not too far from my house, the guy is selling all his A-body parts he has collected over the years so I got lucky. It did not come with third member I put that in there to mock up for over all length. The axles have been drilled and tapped for 5x4.5 pattern and 1/2 race studs, I might just buy shorter studs since these look pretty beat and go with different wheels not sure yet. The holes for small pattern are still there so I can go either way.

I had to cut somebodies inner spring pads off and clean it up back to stock look, luckily they did not cut stock one off.
Nice score!
Coming along nicely... My '70 goes to the muffer shop in March, I should be terrorizing the neighborhood soon!!
