67 Coronet grey/silver strips top and bottom of grill
Posted by: RT K_line - 08-19-16, 04:05 PM - Forum: Coronet Restoration/Paint Shop/Body Shop - Replies (9)

I pulled out the original grill from my R/T from storage. I remembered seeing that the grill was black with silver or grey stripes horizontally on each edge of the top and bottom on the vertical bars. The one mounted on the car is all silver color. I've seen others that were either black, and some were silver. Anyone know which is correct. I'll post a picture after work, I repainted the black part but it definitely has a strip on the top and bottom. Thanks for your help.

  Cylinder and piston damage cause..?
Posted by: Stargazer - 08-18-16, 06:04 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (35)

Guys,

I'm just interested in your opinion about how following damage might have happened.

A (good sofar) Mopar shop rebuilt my 440, bored and honed, Keith Black pistons, Alu Stealth heads (440 source).
Crank was balanced ect.
I drove the car for about 200 miles and it did good. Except for a rattle when accelerating with full throttle.
Two weeks ago the rattle became loud very shortly, engine died at once and white smoke from exhaust....
Car was brought back to the shop, and the engine was opened. They found a crack in a cilinder, and that piston was badly damaged.
The heads and valves seem to be undamaged. But will be totally checked.
So, they will repair it all, maybe with another 440. And it all falls under garanty, it was their fault. So that is the good news.

But, what could have caused this? The reason they give puzzles me.
What do you guys think might have caused this damage?

  AM/FM radio
Posted by: mike1968rt - 08-16-16, 08:08 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (4)

Does anyone know the model number for a 65/66 motorola AM/FM radio? I bought one for 3 bucks, and it has 194 stamped on it, but I can't find anything for that model number on the web. Were the same radios used in Plymouth and Dodge cars? The one I bought looks similar to one my buddy has in a 65 Sport Fury. I found one on the internet, but it was made by Bendix.

I know we just had a short discussion on these while hijacking someone else's thread. I just finished cleaning and painting the set I have. Does anyone know the part number for the pcv grommet? It has about a 1.5" OD hole8961
