1968 DODGE R/T coupe, 440, factory air

For 35K I would like to have a convertible; low miles for a nice looking 68. But might not be that rare with 7751 built, might be rare in this condition though.

  Oil pump gaskets
Posted by: 67440Dodge - 02-05-15, 07:12 PM - Forum: Part Numbers - Replies (1)

If you remove the oil pump on a big block or tear it apart to inspect it, you need to replace the gasket and seals. If you go to a parts store, they'll give you a large O-ring that is used to seal the plate to the pump body. Chrysler no longer carries them (there is one dealer in the US that has one, and it's not for sale accoridng to the computer)

The gasket and seals are still available from some sources.

Melling has them with part number M-63016. O'Reilly Auto Parts and Jegs has them available.

They are also available from Macnini Racing. 440 Source sells just the paper gasket.

Primer and paint procedure the factory way?
Posted by: Hemigunnar - 02-05-15, 06:55 AM - Forum: Coronet Restoration/Paint Shop/Body Shop - Replies (3)
Hello!

I'm restoring a Dodge Coronet 440 -66 and I would like to know the factory procedure of applying primer and paint.

I know that the body was dipped in black/gray primer up to half the firewall and then the red oxide paint/primer was applied, but how and where? Under? Inside? Luggage and enginebay?

I have seen the black/grey primer line inside on the firewall and dooropenings, but did they not paint above that inside at all?

How did they lay the topcoat? Only in doorjamb or in the whole car?

Was the undercarrie black, oxide red or topcoat?

Please, explain to me...! [Image: smile.png]
Differences In 69 Coronet Tailpanels
Posted by: krabben1 - 02-03-15, 12:19 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Hey guys,
I have a question on the tail sections of 69 coronets.
I think Ive seen 3 different ones. Was it a trim option?
It looks like the Superbee got the two tail lights, and the R/T got the three.
Was their another one for 69 also?
I tried searching, but kept coming up empty.
Thanks,
Chris

  Mystery Floor Plug
Posted by: NZ 68 R/T - 02-01-15, 11:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I found what looks like a floor plug floating round in my R/T. It has CAPLUGS B-485 on it and appears to have a recess in it to accept a cable or hose.

Any ideas where this comes from?? Thanks
