I saw some really nice Coronets today while visiting Mopars at the Strip. Probably my favorite show of the year. It is so much more appealing to me than the standard car show. its nice to see the cars racing/dragging rather than sitting like museum pieces. Cars are made to be driven!
Hopefully i can get back there tomorrow for closing day!

  Wiper blades/ Wiper Arm.
Posted by: cnmsales - 03-23-13, 04:45 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (10)

So I went into orielys today to see about getting wiper blades and he said he didn't carry them. The ones he showed me on the screen didn't look like mine so he came out to take a look. He says it looks like someone rigged something up and I would need the wiper arm including the prefill blade. (The whole black peace that attached to the arm that moves up and down.)

Now the confusion. I looked on rock auto. And when I look up wiper arm it shows me the grey metal arm that attaches to the car. I'm pretty sure I don't need these and both of them on my car work fine?

The guy at orielys indicated I needed the entire black piece replaced. But every thing I look at on rock auto shows this in the picture.

This is what he said I needed to replace - http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo...cc=1403154

But does this whole item come with this, or is it just the blade?

Any help is appreciated.

Or, did he mean this - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anco-4103-Wiper-...5d35d4368c

Looking at this one mine looks nothing like it. I will go down and get some pictures of mine here in a bit so someone can tell me if mine are messed up.

swapped a new cam in again
Posted by: 65rbdodge - 03-22-13, 03:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

i put different cam in the 318 i built for my desoto again. this is the third one and it has not even ran yet! i guess i cant make up my mind. i first put this motor together 4 years ago. its an 86 van 318 i got off of a friend for free. i rebuilt it, +.030, 10/10 crank, cast pistons, windage tray, #302 heads, performer intake, 450 holley spread bore factory 340 cam. 2 years ago i decided to put a comp cams xe254 cam in it and a wieand stealth intake. now i ve decided to go roller(since it was a roller block) so i got a LA roller cam out of the junkyard, had it reground by bullet cams and i`m putting some redrilled magnum heads w/ rocker studs/guide plates and chevy 1.6 roller rockers. i`m really going for mpg here and not a performance build. next thing to do is pull these heads and put the magnums on.

  Vent Wing Assembly
Posted by: markbob@ameritech.net - 03-22-13, 12:37 AM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (7)

Hey all,

took my vent window assemblies apart to get them rechromed...

the little "nubs" that hold them together were ground down in order to get them apart....
now I want to put them together again, and am wondering how to preen the remaining "nubs" down
to hold it all together....

do I use a soldering gun to melt them down, or pound them (preen) them with a small hammer and a chisel?

any ideas?

thanks,

Mark

  Drums Vs. Disc
Posted by: Zaq - 03-20-13, 11:45 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

So I started a thread a while back about "Power Vs. Manual" brakes and everyone basically said "If your car has power brakes in it, put them back in it, no sense switching to manual". I am still shopping around for what I want to do with the brakes (plenty of time since I am still working to get it running) but wanted to start a conversation about the advantages of switching to Disc brakes over drum. Obviously performance is better with disc but is it performance I will need? I don't plan to beef up the motor much, just want a good runner to cruise around town. Am I going to notice the performance increase? Is it worth the money spent? Discs all around or Discs front and drums back? I don't necessarily need all those questions answered, I just wanted to throw some questions out there to get the opinions flowing. Thanks!
