This fender has been for sale around here local for so long, I swear everytime I look at it there is more rust coming through. LOL

I looks pretty beat up but fixable for sure.

  GOODBYE A/C UNIT!!!!
Posted by: Ledsled 75 - 03-19-13, 01:14 PM - Forum: The Swan Song Years 1971-1976 - Replies (12)

While exploring the local junkyards friday I found the idler pulley bracket I've been trying to find for 3 1/2 years, and it only cost $7.50. It was in the very last dodge in the junkyard, 4 rows of vehicle's and they all had a/c unit's on them. I almost walked past it without looking at it. Took a quick glance, and there it was! I could hear the angel's singing!! So today I'm going to put it on, goodbye to 30 plus pounds, no more dead weight just so the belts would still work. Big Grin

  Upping Compression ratio -440
Posted by: Piper - 03-19-13, 12:30 AM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (20)

been mulling over what to do with the 440 I have

I want to bump the compression up to about 8.7 from 8.2 (I have 915's for it, haven't blueprinted them but sounds like factory they went out at 80cc)

its a std. bore '72 440

Pistons sits .17 in the hole

I do have a mechanical .528 which a lot of research has lead me to the conclusion that the small duration has great vacuum characters as well as with the fast ramp it should fill the cylinders quite rapidly (seems to be a good fit for a low compression motor)

I would like to squeeze just a half of a point of compression more and thought milling the heads, but I cant get the math correct.

what should the heads be milled at, and how much should the intake runners be cut? (I have adjustable's so I should be good in that dept)

  Fire Extinguisher

Last week I had a Corvette darn near catch on fire on me on a test drive. He put a new carburetor on it the night before and the banjo fitting leaked on me, I freaked!!
After that the customer and his buddies had a few stories to share about car fires, and I got to thinking I/we should all carry one.

I would like to hear what you recommend or don't recommend so I can buy a couple for the Coronet's. One of the guy's story warned against the little fancy chrome one's since they are just too small. I have a big one in my truck, and have used it to save a car before. But not sure about carring this huge thing around in my car, or where to mount it.

Pic's of some mounted one's would be great.

What's is called? Where to find it?
Posted by: Hibbing_Coronet_500 - 03-18-13, 07:33 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (10)

Closing up my electrical repairs under the hood as well as the dash. I ordered a new glove box liner. Because my windshield wiper pivot seals leaked.

Where could these items be sourced? Or is there a homemade fix?
Thanks again!

  1950 Interchangeability Questions
Posted by: 50Coronet - 03-16-13, 08:11 AM - Forum: The Early Years - Replies (14)

I asked a similar question before on the old Forum and can't really recall what the answer was so I thought I'd repost. I have a friend who has some parts he is getting rid of and we're trying to figure out if they will fit my 4 door 1950 Coronet. I am not near my Coronet at the moment so any of you who have a 4 door '50 could probably help with these. My friend isn't sure if the doors, fenders, hood etc are from a Dodge or a DeSoto and I don't think they interchange as they may be slightly different. Can someone tell me what the sizes are on the 1950 Coronet doors are (width and length should do)?
Thanks,
Mike

Hey everyone, this is my first post. I hope someone can help me.
I have a 67 Coronet 440, I want to put Cragar SS wheels on and I have located some I like. The question is, will they fit my car without cutting the car.
The rears are p/n 61017, 15 x 10, 5x4.5, 4.75, 5 -44, uni-lug 3 3/4 back spacing.
The fronts are: p/n 61615, 15 x 6, 5x4.5, 4.75, 5 +0, uni-lug 3 3/8 back spacing.

Please help!
Thanks,
John
