  Worn Hinges and Door Misalignment
Posted by: Hibbing_Coronet_500 - 01-04-17, 03:14 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (5)

On my 67 Coronet I had worn door hinges. I rebuilt them with new bushings and pins.
No matter what, I cant get the door to align correctly.
The issue is on the latch / striker side at the bottom corner of the door. It sticks out about a 1/4 inch with the door fully closed.

I have tried to shim out the door at the upper hinge. I just makes for other problems with the fender and hood alignment

Its as if the door is twisted, Even the passenger door has the same issues and those hinges are mint.
All the gaps are perfect. Everything is straight edge true except the lower corner of the doors.

Thoughts?
Thank you in advance
Joe

  Wiring: Accessibility at 1950 coronet
Posted by: crnet50s - 01-03-17, 01:48 PM - Forum: The Early Years - Replies (1)

Hello everyone!

The warning first: I am new at owning a classic car, in particular a dodge coronet from 1950 (D34), so my issue might be very easy to deal with for all the pros here.

The thing is that the wiring of my car is still from 1950 and needs a little round-up. So far, so good. But there I come to the first problem which is the accessibility of the wiring, especially behind the dashboard. So I hope you could give me some good recommendation how to proceed best: Dismount the dashboard or only the radio and temperature control panel or is it maybe better to take out the bench in the front for better access? Or do I just have to improve my personal flexibility?!

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!

Sending regards from the south of Germany! I'm new in this forum but also new in owning a classic car.

For a little more then one month I am a proud owner of a 1950 dodge coronet. The car is still very original but at the same time in good shape. It just needs a new exhaust system, new tires and a little "update" of the wiring.

The last one mentioned is also my first issue, since i struggle a little bit with the accessibility of the wiring, especially behind the dashboard. I hope the get some useful recommendations whether to remove the dashboard, the bench or improve my personal flexibility to access the cables. I will post a separate question in the technical thread.

So, looking foward to meet some interesting new people and some nice rides in the summer!

Newbie Question - 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 - drum to disc conversion
Posted by: Craig5498 - 12-30-16, 03:20 AM - Forum: New Members - Replies (11)

I am super new to forum's and owning a classic car....In fact, I bought my first car yesterday from the original owner in Courtney British Columbia, Canada. It's an all original, one owner 1966 Dodge Coronet 383 / 727. It even has the original dealer protective plastic on the seats! I'am sure that this topic would have been covered 10,000 times though I am still trying to figure out how to search each forum....

To really enjoy this car, I would like to update the drum brakes to period correct disc brakes and power booster. I would also like to replace the shocks with period correct items as these are original as well.

I am am not looking for the shiny goldish power booster - I would really prefer the matte black booster and original calipers. Same as the shocks, original Colour would be my preference.
can anyone point me in the right direction for purchasing these?
I really appreciate any help that can be provided.
Regards,
Craig Anderson

  66 headlight assembly
Posted by: Xpsyclonex2002 - 12-28-16, 02:43 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (16)

After 5 years of not working on my Coronet, I've decided to get back at it. One of my first jobs will be to complete the headlights. When I bought my car, it had a 67 Grille assembly in it. There was a burlap sack in the trunk full of 66 grill parts. That's what tipped me into investigating what year car I had purchased. I thought I purchased a 67. Long story short when I bought the car the 66 headlight assembly was not installed. It was just a bunch of parts and pieces. I do not even know if I have everything. Can someone post and exploded view or something akin to it so that I can see how this gets installed?
