  66 Coronet - correct tires?
Posted by: airdefenz - 02-06-13, 03:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

Hello - I am painting my original 66 Coronet Rims the color of my car (red) and will put dog dish caps on those rims. Does anyone have a suggestion for tires? I found that non-Hemi Coronet's came with Blackwalls and whitewalls. Hemi cars came with blue lines (possibly some coating that used to wash off?).

I would consider some nice Redlines if anyone may know if they are period correct? I also like the Goodyear Bias Polyglas white letter tires as they would add to the "sleeper" look of my car.

Any thoughts on which tires to put on and perhaps where to get them? I have looked at Coker, Classic Industries and others. The rims are 14's.

Thanks!

Looking for this 66 Coronet Wagon: UPDATE Found vin!

Posted here a long while back before I was removed:

My father special ordered this 66 Coronet 440 station wagon at Cherry Hill Dodge in NJ.
It featured a 383 and 4 speed trans and pretty much every high performance option and bench seat.
It was obviously customized with the brown textured paint and bright hugger orange paint, functional scoops, side pipes, javelin grill, corvette taillights with clear lenses for turnsignal and Chrysler single low/high headlights.

It was sold in the early 70's. Curious to know if it is still out there, somewhere, in any condition.

What makes a Dodge require a ballist resistor and others not ? The coil ? If so what other coils would interchange to get rid of the BR ? Is that all that would need changed ? Thanks . BooBoo

  Soft Scrub

Have something that is dull or faded and want to shine it up? Instead of using rubbing or polishing compound, try using some Soft Scrub and a wet paper towel.

It's got a fine abrasive in it that works pretty good on cleaning up dull or faded paints without burning thru. I used it on my speedometer and gauges and it turned the faded white to almost new looking.

  66 Coronet Tires
Posted by: airdefenz - 02-05-13, 02:32 PM - Forum: The Muscle Car Years 1965-1970 - Replies (1)

Hello - I wanted to see if anyone can steer me in the direction to buy period correct tires for my 66 Coronet? I am painting the wheels red to match the car, adding Dog Dish and I want suggestions for period correct tires. I understand that all Hemi's came with Firestone Blue Line Ovals in 66. I like the Classic Industries Goodyear small white letter tires actually.

Did Coronet's come with Blackwall or whitewalls? Mfr?
Thanks,
Joe
