ignition question - BooBoo - 02-05-13 What makes a Dodge require a ballist resistor and others not ? The coil ? If so what other coils would interchange to get rid of the BR ? Is that all that would need changed ? Thanks . BooBoo ignition question - 67440Dodge - 02-06-13 Yup.. it's the coil. Some had the ballast resistor built into the coil, where others had a resistor wire or ballast resistor. ignition question - theman440 - 02-06-13 Wasn't the ballast resistor used to cut down the voltage to the points so they'd last longer? ignition question - 67440Dodge - 02-06-13 Yessir... And in some electronic ignition setups (GM's HEI for example), a resistor wire was used to help the coil run cooler. |
