993 994 Hi, my name is Dan. I just got a 1950 Coronet last week. I have been waiting 21 years to buy an old 50's car and this one and I fell in love at first site! I am not planning on a full resto at this time as I am more into the ratrods and patinaed cars. Her body will always remain in stock form. I am going to restore the interior and throw some wider white walls on her and call it good for now. The only rust to repair is in the trunk wich is nice because it is hidden for now. I can't wait to get her road Worthy. We call her.....995 !!!!!

We brought this home yesterday from a friend who is doing a fantastic job on his '50. I'm hoping to get it into mine in the next year or so.

You're Invited 2013 Cruisin The Coast
Posted by: cnmsales - 03-03-13, 02:58 AM - Forum: Show Annoucements/Clubs - Replies (4)

Just wanted to give everyone an early heads up for one of the funnest events to ever take place Smile

Dont know if any of you have ever been but this year is expected to be the biggest ever.

Last year we had over 6000 cars registered and this year promises to be even bigger. Lots of great music, food, and of course cars.

Would be neat to get a bunch of yall down here to do the cruise in an armada of coronets.

Any way check it out. Lots of empty sites along the beach rented cheap to park an RV and lots of hotels.

I hope to see a few of you this year.

  Weird lights issue. Some guidance?
Posted by: cnmsales - 03-03-13, 02:35 AM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (37)

OK so when I first bought the net from my buddy the dash lights didn't work at all. Then one day they started working all of a sudden. No clue what changed to make this happen.

I have my radio tied into the fuse panel under the dash. Tonight I went to start the car and something happened and I lost all power. Sure enough one of the fuses had blown. So I went ahead and replaced all 6 of them. Disconnected the memory cable and will be running that direct to the battery tomorrow.

Also, my brake lights don't work at all. So I took it out tonight and pulled into a parking lot and sat in front of a storefront window so I could see what they are doing.

Problem #1. Weather I have the lights on or not when the car is running the back lights stay on. Pressing the brakes do nothing to the lights. If the car is turned off the brake lights go off like normal. With the car off and the headlights turned on the back lights stay on as well. Which I would expect to be normal.

Any ideas? Are there any other fuses I might need to look at other then the 6 under the dash? Any relay switches I need to look at and possibly change?

Also, under the dash, by the break pedal you have the little spring switch that goes up and down. As it stands now my break pedal never hits it when pressing the brakes, not sure if its supposed to but I would assume it should? On this switch you have two wires that plug into it. Is it possible these are plugged in backwards? It would seem this would explain why the lights stay on no matter what?

Also, my buddy has the brake pedal pulled and held up with a bungee tie because when the pedal sits in the normal position the brake lights stay on even if the car is off and headlights are off? Haven't tested this since having the lights problem to see if that is still the case.

Any ideas on what I might be able to check?

I know the dash lights issue and the brake lights issue are probably two separate problems. Any help would be appreciated.

  Someone please buy this.

I'm trying not to look, unfortunately he has sent me some pics alreay. I can foward them if anyone wants.

The guy seems very nice, took it for money owed and just wants to sell it. Doesn't know much about these cars as the 69 title shows. What I really like about him is he won't transport it in the salt, that speaks volumes to me about integrity.

318, manual windows, no AC, has console.

Not a bad asking price either.

  Big block head selection
Posted by: Zaq - 03-02-13, 09:14 PM - Forum: Tech Q&A - Replies (4)

Took the head off my 400 to the machine.shop for some work and they noticed a crack on it and said they could do what I brought it to them for but I might as well just get a new head. I was looking on Craigslist and there's a set of 915's for 600 (eek) and also a set or ported 906's for 350. I was doing some reading but figured I would put it out here to get options on what I should look for. I'm in no hurry so I can wait till something comes up that I want. Let me know your opinions.

Need advice. Totally bummed out and frustrated right now
Posted by: cnmsales - 03-01-13, 09:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

So I decided to take the net to a paint and body shop that just opened up a few months ago and get an idea of what I need to get saved up to get it painted. So apparently they said they were not equipped to do the work, that they were a spray and go shop?

I was hopping to spend 1000 to 1500 right now. Nothing special nothing fancy. I just want to get it sprayed so the salt air doesn't destroy the body. Right now I have one small rust spot on the back wheel to get repaired. The rest is in great shape and just surface rust.

They told me that to get someone to do it im looking at a starting price of 4 to 5k? And that whoever did it would have the car for 3 months or more?

Im so bummed right now. I make decent money but no way I can afford 5k+ on a paint job. I really fear the car is going to rust away on me and be a total waste.

Can anyone advise me on this? Are they way off base? Should I expect to be able to find someone to do the work for 1 to 2k? Like I said, not looking for anything fancy right now. Just want to get it covered so it doesn't rust away on me. If anyone has any advise or cant point me in a good direction I would greatly appreciate it. Obviously im not someone who knows a ton about cars but am learning fast. Just so frustrated right now.
