Quarter window rebuild
#1
After 17 years, I am finally on the put it back together track.....I ordered a new quarter window roller kit and am finding that without directions I am a little lost. It looks like the kit must contain parts I wont use, parts I will use and not enough parts to fully restore them entirely.

Looking at the front track, there are two roller mechanisms that have 2 small rollers and one large one. The large one going in the window framing and two smaller ones for the track mounted inside the quarter.

My question is this......the kit doesn't contain parts for these. I have fixed the small rollers so they turn nice, but the large roller is held onto the contraption by a rivet. These are all seized and two of them are actually broken.....anyone have any experience with these. I have searched forums and youtube to the end..

Long time no hear Mike. Those roller assemblies are convertible only items and NOBODY reproduces them. I needed some for my '66 and it took me quite a long time to find some on ebay (the small rollers were bad on mine) I think I still have the extra roller assy's & parts - send me a pic of one (for reference) and I'll try to find 'em - I'll give 'em to ya since you did me right on the door glass an wind wing frames you sold me.

That would be AWESOME to say the least! THANK YOU! Let me know if you find them and I will PM you my address. I have enough in parts to make something work as long as the larger roller is decent. If I could just find the rivets and the larger roller, that would work too.

I remember how fun those contraptions were! I soaked ours in oil and made sure all the rollers spun freely. They were in pretty good shape to behind with. Aligning everything was fun too! Good luck getting it rebuilt.

Hello Mike,

While I do not have a source for your convertible's specific window rollers and other related parts, I have written a very extensive thread here on the DCR awhile back that should be very helpful to you in that it includes lots of factory diagrams that will show you where all of the related window parts that you're dealing with are located. I've also listed most all of the factory part numbers and an interchange guide for all of the window glass, weatherstripping and other related parts for all 1966 and 1967 Dodge and Plymouth B-Body models.

Here is the link to that DCR thread: http://www.dodgecoronet.com/coronet/show...ange-Guide

Great! Thanks for the link, in sure it will come in handy. I've collected tons of parts over the last 18 years and disassembled lots of cars....i managed to get one quarter window in..on to the door glass and wing window frames!..i did save a door off of another car for ref!

Mike,
I will search for them this weekend - hopefully I can get 'em out to you Monday or Tuesday.

I am a little confused now.........not really sure what is correct. The schematics that Rich posted show these pieces as being used in both hard tops and convertibles in 66 and 67 with the same part numbers and they call it "bracket with roller."

When I took the car apart, I had 4 of the pieces like I put in the third post above, Static large roller.....
Over the course of the years, I purchased a set of regs on ebay for vert and it came with 2 of the rollers with the pivot and 2 without.
You have the ones with the pivot...........which ones belong???

I used 2 of the static ones in the passenger side a couple days ago, and it seems to work fine. I would think if it was supposed to be one of each in there, the schematic diagram would show 2 different part numbers.

I think at this point, I will try to find 2 of the static ones as that is what I know I pulled from the car.

I do appreciate your efforts in digging the parts out, taking pictures and offering them up though...very generous and thank you once again.

If anyone who reads this post has a little more insight, please share. popcorn

I needed a drivers side rear convertible regulator for my 66 coronet, i didnt know at the time that there was any difference and went to a guys house to buy a grille and he had a hardtop parts car so i bought the regulators from it and when i got home I found out that there wasnt much that was the same. Ended up cobbling the bent one up enough so the window will roll up if I need it to. Still need a regulator, there not real easy to come buy.
