Hi,
When I bought my Coronet the previous owner told me his mechanic said the carburetor needed a rebuild. The car does stall every now and again especially when moving on from a stop. But always starts right back up. Anyway, I saw this:

and thought, is it worth having it rebuilt or just buy another? It's a 1965 with the slant 6 single carb setup now. Any thoughts appreciated.

Very simple carb to rebuild. I would take it apart, clean it with carb cleaner and compressed air and purchase a new carb kit and rebuild it. Check the throttle shaft/throttle bore free play for excessive wear and if worn past usable condition, either have it bushed or purchase a new unit. A stumble upon take off can be caused by a vacuum leak in the throttle shaft/bore.

4 sentences that would take me a month to figure out :-)
But, the winters here are long. Maybe I could do it. I am looking at the kit, famous last words, doesn't look too bad. Maybe I need to buy the kit and find me a 6-pack mechanic to show me for my first one......
