Wiper motor rebuild
#1
I am rebuilding a three speed wiper motor for my '68 Coronet RT. It was very dirty and the wires from the motor to the harness have the insulation broken and missing. When I cleaned it up the switch plate is a red/maroon color. Can someone tell me, or better yet post a pic of the original color?

I found the answer in an old Year One catalog. Under the description of their premium restoration service is this description: "The soldered connections and the screw on the lower left side of the switch plate is sealed with a reddish-brown medium gloss sealer to seal out moisture. "

Hey neighbor-Where at in the Shores?
We sent ours out years ago to guy in Canada. He charged accordingly but it came back looking like new!

I am just a stones throw southeast of 12 and Harper. That's a great looking motor. Mine won't look that good, but I'll post a picture when I am done.

67rtblue, you and I have communicated before, somehow. When you said Fleetwood, that reminded me.
Here is a pic of my rebuilt wiper motor. One of the wires (the one going to one of the brushes) I replaced completely, the other ones I cut off the crumbling insulation and slipped on new insulation. I then used heat shrink tubing on the connections, just like from the factory. I am thinking of touching up the sealant with red primer. I think that color looks very similar. I wish I knew which wires to apply power to in order to test it. I would like to make sure it's working before I put it in, because the car is not completed enough to test it after mounting it. I am not one to brag, but the difference between the condition of this motor before and after is like night and day.
