Best wiring replacement
#1
Good afternoon all, hope all of you are well. I haven't posted in a looooong time on the thread, I was hit by the whole life happens situation. Anyhow I'm finally able to invest in good ole Darlene once again, and my electrical is my 1st on the to do list. I would like to know whats the best complete rewiring kit out there available for purchase, need a complete wiring overhaul. I've located some different harnesses through Classic Industries, Summit, and JC Whitney. Witch one is the best to install on a sedan? Thanks you all in advance.

I was happy with the front and rear harnesses from Year One. I don't recall who makes them for Year One.

M&H makes them for Year One. I was satisfied with my Year One harnesses also, but they were not perfect. If you do get them from Year One, make sure you wait for 30% off as they are expensive.

I bought a complete set for my GTX and engine & headlight kit for the 67 Coronet.

I agree, the M&H reproduction wiring harnesses are the class of the field. I used one of their complete engine and front headlight wiring harnesses in my sons 1972 Dart Swinger back in 2005/2006 that I purchased from Year One as well before I realized who was supplying the harnesses to Year One and it fit and works perfectly today 12 years later. I also have one of the M&H complete engine and front headlight wiring harnesses waiting to go into my 1966 Coronet 500.

I would add some food for thought though, instead of going through any company like Year One or others who are secondary suppliers for the M&H products and possibly paying a mark-up in price, why not go directly to the manufacture themselves first and see if you can save some hard earned cash?

Thank you guys for the pointers, and thank Richard appreciate the feedback from you guys. I'll check out M&H first for sure fingers crossed they have something for the sedan, I say because I've also noticed that some of the harnesses say they are specific for 2 door hardtops. Would there be any real big difference from a 2 door to a 4 door wiring harness?

Please forgive me for not remembering your exact car, but what model year and trim level is your Coronet sedan?

Do you own a Factory Service Manual for your car? I ask this because all of the factory wiring diagrams are included in that manual for all of the various body styles including 2 and 4 door sedans, 2 door hardtops and convertibles as well as station wagons. Once I know what model year your Coronet is I can give you Ebay auction links or direct website links for the correct Factory Service Manual for your particular car if you don't already own a copy.

As far as what M&H can do for you goes, they are able to manufacture wiring harnesses for any body style and can make anything from a custom harness to an exact factory reproduction harness as long as you can communicate to them exactly what your needs are for your application. The M&H harness that I purchased for my sons 1972 Dart Swinger through Year One was modified by M&H to handle a Mopar Performance electronic ignition conversion kit that I had installed on the car and the harness fits the car perfectly and looks like it came from the factory that way, so I was very pleased.

I'll post a picture of my sons Dart engine compartment below, but you won't be able to see the actual wiring harness because I enclose all of the wiring on the Dart and my Coronet in plastic automotive tubing to protect it from direct heat sources and other contaminates.

Ok, after taking a look at the small picture on your DCR profile page, it looks as if you are the proud owner of a very good looking 1966 Coronet 440 trim level sedan. Let me give you some Ebay links for the 1966 Coronet Factory Service Manuals in both a CD format and also in a printed book format so that you can choose the best option for your needs. These Ebay links are for a retailer that is licensed by Chrysler to reproduce and sell these manuals and that I've done business with many times over the years. I will also give you a link to another Ebay seller that I've done business with that offers all of the various Mopar wiring diagrams in a laminated page format so that you can take them out in the garage while you're working on the car and not have to worry about getting them dirty.

Ebay link for a 1966 Coronet Factory Service Manual in a CD format: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Dodge-CD-Re...rL&vxp=mtr

Ebay link for a 1966 Coronet Factory Service Manual in a printed book format: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162015507241?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT

Ebay link for 1966 Coronet wiring diagrams in a laminated page format: http://www.ebay.com/itm/361989138973?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT
(make sure that you contact this seller and ask him for the SEDAN wiring diagrams if you purchase these)

Unfortunately M&H has an agreement with Year One in that you can only buy it from Year One. Something about Year One paying for the tooling.

Hello Mark,

I know that was the case at one time, but if you take a look at the M&H website It looks as if you can order directly from them now.

You can buy direct from them but not our stuff. If you dig far enough this is what you find on the website......

We do not sell any of our Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth harnesses direct; they must be ordered from our exclusive distributor Year One Inc.. Call or visit Year One's website today to order a new harness, or request their catalog for your Chrysler, Dodge or Plymouth Muscle Car!
