Just a quick FYI.
When I bought my 67 I noticed my break lights stayed on after exiting the car. If I remembered? I would pull up on the pedal with my foot to make the lights go out. A few dead batteries later and I solved the problem. The switch was not out of adjustment. The wire connector to the switch had caused the switch to rotate downward and the connector itself was keeping the switch held open. I rotated the switch and its connector 180 degrees and the switch closes and no more dead batteries.
