Rear tire size fitment on a 67
#1
I got a 67 with 8" cragers on the rear . The tires are Good/Year Aquatread 235/75/15 . Theres 1 1/2" clearence between the front part of the leaf spring and inner tire sidewall . Theres the same on the rear part of the leaf . Theres 1 1/4" between the outer sidewall of the tire and the outer wheelwell where the body trim is . Someone has already done some grinding there and looks like I could go with another 3/8" and that would leave about 1/4" of body panal . Theres 1 1/4" between the inner wheelwell and inner side wall of the tire . The cars not perfect so it dont bother me to do more grinding if I had too . So what size tire could I go with on these 8" rims without getting any taller of a tire ? Thanks BooBoo

Just remember, don't forget how hard it is to get the tires on in the first place. Getting a flat and not getting a too big tire off would really suck.

I have seen this question asked on many different forms and it seems like it is never fully answered?
On one forms they post the tires and wheel used on there cars with back space and rim width information think was on dodge Dart form?
But I am still not sure what will fit on 66/67 b body after reading all the posts I could find.
Anyone have any input
Thanks Jim

I agree with that. I have 255/60/15 M/T ET Street Radials in a totally stock wheel well. The 275/60/15 are 0.9 inches wider and 5/8 inches taller. With a reduced lip and proper wheel spacing, I think the 275/60/15 should be okay. Key is proper wheel offset and worse comes to worse offset leaf spring hangars.

What is the backspacing on that rim you would need to go with a 5 inch backspace to get to 275/60/15 on the back because you have some your lip cutaway that would probably work
