You came to the correct place to do your "homework" Josh

First off what type of shifter are you running? I am assuming its a B&M or Hurst

if its stock floor shift you are in luck it would just be a matter of getting a console (they are reproducing them now) and the wiring (in my '67 Coronet the PO took all the necessary wiring from a Coronet 500)

so if you find a donor car it would be helpful

B E & A parts sells a lot (if not all ) of the console parts if you decide not to go the swap meet or eBay route

It's actually very simple Josh from a wiring standpoint. You just have to unplug the switch on the column for the reverse lights, and connect those wires to the switch on the floor shifter. As for the console lights, it's really just a matter of looking at a wiring diagram and finding where to connect the lights into. If memory serves me right, they plug in to the dome light harness on the drivers side kick panel.

As Piper mentioned, they pretty much make everything to do the conversion. The only parts they don't make are the floor shift steering column. The hardest part really is if you don't have a welder, is finding someone to weld the brackets to the floor in the correct location.

this is actually exactly the advise i was looking for i have the correct shifter for it and i know where to get all the parts. however, wiring isnt my strongest area of expertise, it was completley baffeling me on how to go about wiring the reverse lights and the console lights the guy i bought it from already put the correct floor shifter in (whether its exactly where it needs to be or not is a different story) it does work and it is hooked up to the tranny as far as i know. Where would be a good place to start looking for a column?,because mopar in wyoming isnt exactly something common.

If the shifter is in place and working, that's the toughest part of the battle. It's the location of the other brackets that can be the hard part (you can't screw the console down if they are in the wrong spot.

As for the steering column, the Parts Wanted section here is a good place to start. Just post the year of your car and what you are looking for and if someone has one for sale, they will contact you.

Ebay and Craigslist are good places to look as well. Also, once swap meet season starts up again, make a plea on here if someone is at Carlisle or the Nats to keep an eye out for one.

What year Coronet? Later stuff has the reverse light switch built into the neutral safety switch on the trans ( 3 pin vs. single pin). I think the change over was in 1968 ( late model, lol )
