'66 CORONET GAS FILLER SEAL
#21
It clearly is supposed to be bolted to some sort of a surface to seal out the weather or something similar. I also just checked my 67 Charger and it has the exact same filler set up as a Coronet.

Oh well, who knows...

If the new piece fits to the top of the filler (I hope..!), then I've got it made. If it goes to the bottom, where the pipe exits the floor, as Richard's parts list seems to suggest, then it'll probably become "wall art". Anyway, for 15 bucks it's worth a shot! Besides, the car hasn't seen rain since I got it, so having a shield there isn't really a big deal.

Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter of "where the hell does this thing go?"

It most likely fits some 1965 and 1966 models, just not correct for 1966 Coronets.

It looks like the "A" body tank seal where the fuel filler tube passes into the top of the fuel tank (one of Chryslers weaker moments), I will try to send picture this weekend.

Well, it looks like Richard nailed it. After finally getting the filler pipe seal, it looks like it's the wrong part. As you can see, by the pictures, it's supposed to fit but it's not even close. Oh well, it'll make an interesting piece to hang up....

End of the saga!

It really is frustrating when part suppliers aren't knowledgeable about which models their parts fit. I'd give them a call and explain that they've made a listing error on that part and ask them for a refund on the part as well as free shipping to return the part to them. Even though it wasn't a large amount of money, it's still an obvious application listing error that they need to fix and if nobody calls them on it, they will continue to sell the part incorrectly to other 1966 B-Body owners which will cause those owners grief also. Sad

Looking for some advice. Steele Rubber is offering this gas filler gasket that's supposed to fit all mopars through '66. It's clearly round in shape (looks like a toilet bowl gasket!). The photo is of my car and, what appears to be, an oval shaped opening and no gasket. I've always wanted to locate the proper piece but I'm not sure about this one. Has anyone had occasion to replace this gasket with the one from Steele? Their part # is 70-3622-39 and it sells for $22.70 U.S. I first saw this in my Mopar Muscle magazine.

Anyone with a parts manual who can verify if this is the correct piece? It's supposed to replace MOPAR part # 2203472.

Thanks to all and Merry Christmas!!

Mega Parts and maybe Van's up in Wisconsin has all the gas tank fill and vent tubes and rubber elbows.
Objects quickly DISAPPEAR in the rearview mirror and PLEASE stay seated until the ride comes to a complete stop!!
