a scrap piece of wood on top of a floor jack works, i`ve done it many times.

Well the front of the converter isnt even wet...its something behind it...i have never dropped a tranny before...im kinda worried about it..or what i should do

check for a broken line first, there are 2 lines on the drivers side of the trans that go to the bottom of the radiator or trans cooler if someone put one on. this would definatly cause all the fluid to leak out really fast. put one quart trans fluid in, get the front of the car SAFELY up on jack stands. get a light source under so you can see really well(i have a 500 watt light that burns anything that falls on it) start the motor and put it in neutral. get under the car and see where its leaking from. do this first before pulling the trans out. if its not a line let us know and we`ll(or me) will tell you step by step how to pull the trans out.

I was just about to ask that.. Smile its in the bell housing i looked.. So yeah a step by step would be great Smile and once i find what it is ill ask how to change the part so it doesnt leak again

You have to separate the torque converter from the flex plate. There are four bolts and you have to spin the engine over by hand to access all four from the inspection plate. Starter, cooling lines, shift/kick down linkage,dipstick tube, wire connector on drivers side, speedo cable. Then you are ready for the grunt work. Oh, drain the thing out, you will be amazed at how much tranny fluid one of these things can hold. You have to drop the pan for that. Once you get that all done, support the engine with a small piece of 2x4 on the center link, just be careful not to hang the weight of the trans. on the steering. A floor jack with a piece of ply wood will keep the pan from getting all scratched up. Also if you can, try to ratchet strap the trans. on the jack. You also have to have the car up high enough to get the transmission out. Remove the two bolts for the rear trans. mount to trans. Then jack it up to lift the rear off the cross member. Remove cross member. Take the engine bolts off from the top down if you can. Pull it off the engine, let it down on the jack, but be carefull, the torque converter can slide out if it leans toward the front, which it will because it's front heavy.

WS27 has just given you a play by play of what it takes to remove one of these transmissions. Get plenty of rags and oil soak up pads, you are going to need them. Get another person to assist you if you can, it really helps a bunch to have an extra set of hands and eyes for this job. Safety first, as always.

oil filter will have to come off too to get to one of the motor into trans. bolts. also a hint to save you some stress when putting it back together is to spray paint one of the 4 sides of the flex plate where it bolts to the torque convertor before unbolting it. spray the flex plate and convertor. when you put it back together match up all the painted parts. it only goes together one way.

So after i get the rear cross member out i can let the jack down and put it under the pan and take the bolts out and let it down?
