Simple question?
Has anyone ever changed the bulb that lights the PRNDL dial on a 1967 Dodge Coronet?
I assume the steering wheel has to come off?
Tricks to get the horn ring off without ruining it?
Is there a light bulb even there? Classic industries catalog lists one....

Thoughts???

Thank you so very much!

Thank you.
So the wheel has to come off? Thats as good thing I hope? Because I changed my steering gear last year to a lg sector shaft and pitman arm.( My old power box was a sm shaft sector )
My steering wheel is clocked a tad off because it.
Could I re clock the wheel there or do I have to get it clocked the right way at the alignment shop?

Thank you again

I would have an alignment done to make sure everything is centered down there first so you have even turn's both way's and because you had a new part put on.

Sometime's if you just move the wheel if you can, some are flat splined you really didn't fix anything other than modify center.

24 foot lbs on steering wheel nut. Thought I would add that since it is easy to over torque

Thanks Man!
Will check for the flat spot spline. If not? Live with it or let alignment guy fix it....

I feel like I'm stepping on Andy's toes since he really is the expert here. I just thought I'd add a little. It is very important to have the box on center while the car is driving straight down the road. If the center link is off center, the box will also be off center. Steering boxes are actually a little tighter in the center position. So if you are not centered, the box will be a more loose than it should be. And not centering the steering wheel to the box via the splines (if no key way) might trick the alignment guy into setting everything off center if he only uses the steering wheel.

Hope that didn't add any confusion.

I dug into it today to find that the #1445 bulb was working just fine. I removed the cruddy stuff. Cleaned the blue diffuser. And still not enough light to illuminate the dial.
The dude at the parts store said the 57 bulb is now listed as the bulb to use.

The 57 bulb will only work if you cut the light socket assembly at the blue diffuser exposing the bulb because the 57 has a larger bulb than the 1445.

I did that and I now have great illimunation of my PRND21 dial.

If you look at my picture... I cut the socket where only the blue diffuser lives. Exposing 100% of the bulb.

Thanks to all that have assisted me..
