How can I use a stock dual snorkle on an Edelbrock 750 carb?
#1
Is this possible and if so does someone make a custom drop base? Just received my 750 with electric choke and didn't know the opening is a 5" vs the stock 4". I want to keep the stock appearance. Height to the base of the carb with the CH4B intake is exactly the same strangely enough. The intake is taller but the carb is shorter. Don't know if an adapter would do it (worry about height) or just a larger opening base plate.
Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

You might be able to find a larger hole base plate off something later model. I'm not sure what would work, but the might be your best bet.

http://www.nicksgarage.com/aircleaner.htm has some good info..

Looks like you'd need a baseplate from a 68-9.
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

Damn that's a lot of info! Thanks! This is such a swap meet type thing to find too. I'm hoping I can find a base plate that will fit the factory upper lid and still maintain hood clearance. Does anyone know how much room is between the hood and stock air cleaner on a 67 R/T to begin with? At least I'll know how much I've got to work with

I read about a similar problem on a Corvette forum. The guys there said to swap the top cover from the Carter to the Edelbrock carb, then you can use your stock air cleaner. They said the top covers are interchangeable between the two.

A stock Carter 650? will interchange with an Edelbrock 750? I'm gonna have to do a side by side.

Please do and report back. I haven't had the opportunity to try it myself.

Looks like the screw layout is the same but a couple linkages and butterfly would be a puzzle. I think finding the proper base is gonna be the easiest/most practical way.

How about finding a metal fab shop to make a larger circular plate to put on the carb? A gasket type thing?
