Can this be done? I know the factory radio only has one set of wires for one speaker. Could you split this? Will this cause a drop in ohms and mess up the radio/speaker? There is a coronet for sale on ebay now that supposedly had a rear speaker option. There is a switch on the dashboard that looks period correct to turn on the rear speaker. Is anyone familiar? I'd like to keep the factory radio and not get into adding an aftermarket unit or anything like that. Just would like to have two speakers at least.

Rear speaker was an option so if you hunt down the correct parts you should be fine. Use a stock speaker though so not to burn up your radio

There were three different radio systems available on the 1967 models that include the following.
(01) Singe speaker located in the dashboard
(02) Dual speakers with one located in the dashboard and one located in the rear package shelf with a fade control switch assembly mounted on the dashboard
(03) Dual speakers with one located in the dashboard and one located in the rear package shelf with a reverberator control switch assembly mounted on the dashboard
If you have access to a copy of the 1967 Factory Parts Book, you might want to look up pages 1-11, 1-12 and 1-13. These three pages list all of the radio and radio related parts that were used on the 1967 Coronet and all other 1967 Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler and Imperial models. You will need to study these parts and see which if any you'd like to look for. Being electrical parts, buying any of these radio parts used is a gamble at best and if you can locate them in an n.o.s. condition, they aren't usually inexpensive.
If it were me, I'd look for the fade control switch assembly, a factory rear speaker and the wiring harness to connect the radio to the front and rear speakers so that you will be able to control the volume and balance between the front and rear speakers.
For anyone who might not be familiar with the codes used in these Factory Parts Books, here are a few that are important to this discussion.
B = Plymouth A-Body Barracuda models
V = Plymouth A-Body Valiant models
L = Dodge A-Body Dart models
W = Dodge B-Body Coronet models (is sometimes used for 1967 Charger models as well)
D = Dodge C-Body models including Dodge Polara and Dodge Monaco models (is also used when a part is used on various A, B and C-Body 1967 Dodge models including Coronets)
R = Plymouth B-Body Belvedere, Satellite and GTX models
P = Plymouth C-Body models including Plymouth Fury models (is also used when a part is used on various A, B and C-Body 1967 Plymouth models including Belvedere, Satellite and GTX models)
C = Chrysler C-Body models
Y = Imperial miodels
2 D. = 2 door sedan models
2 D. H.T. = 2 door hardtop models
2 D. Cv. Cp. = 2 door Coupe Convertible models
4 D. = 4 door sedan models
4 D. H. T. = 4 door hardtop models
I hope this information helps.
