I was wondering if a 67 coronet had an optional rear defrost package. I have seen these for other B body cars and wondered if anyone here had one on there car. If it is an option with oem parts available for a 67 I would like pix and info if posible. I was looked at the package tray metal this morning and looks to be set up for 3 6x9 speakers but maby the middle is for it? It would be a nice upgrade but I don't want to hack it in if it is not for our car as we are going for a clean stock look.

That 3rd 6x9 hole in the middle is for the blower fan assembly to bolt onto from underneath the package tray. I have a complete set-up for my 1966, and one time decades ago I had a 1967 Coronet with that option. I am thinking maybe they were a Canadian market feature and I read something about that here not long ago on this site. Accompanying that option is a plastic vent housing that sits on top of the package try. A flexible hose much like the heater hoses connects between the blower and the vent outlet via a triangular shaped air 'cone' for lack of a better term. An under-dash mounted electric switch operated the fan and IIRC was 2 or 3 speeds. All this does is recirculate the interior air and I have found that in a moist enviornment like where I live the so-called defrost is actually just a recirculating fan and the moisture just gets re-distributed around the car and in fact I feel it is a very inefficient so called defrost system. These things also drew air from the trunk interior and if you have a leaky truck lid gasket and water getting inside the trunk then that just makes matters even worse and the car starts to smell like mouldy truck mat!. In fact, it doesn't take the frost away, all it does is blow interior air onto the back window to help dry off accumulated water droplets. It does work a little better if one or more windows are cracked open to keep the air moving inside the car. My 1970 Challeneger had this, so did several of my Darts and my Plymouths too. One point to make is IF your car has an electrically operated window de-froster, the ones with the horizontal red heating elements attached to the rear window, then the blower helps distribute the window heat a little better but it is still very inefficient imho. They are rather loud too and vibrate to the point of being annoying to say the least. You being from California would probably not see any real advantage to setting this system up in your car but don't let me stop you.
