1967 Headlight Switch
#1
How do I access the switch to change it? Do I need to pull the instrument panel? I can feel it going underneath but can't figure out how to get to the knob lever release button. Thanks. Steve

First you need to be a contortionist.

But the release button can be accessed by reaching behind the dash. Once you do find it, you need to do a little jiggling with both the button and the knob to pull it out. Then you have to unscrew the escutcheon ring. Disconnect the battery first!!!

And BTW welcome to the site.

So the button is on top? Good suggestion and yes I did pull off the negative cable.

If you don't already have a copy of the 1967 Coronet Factory Service Manual, I would highly recommend that you purchase one. You can buy it in either a printed book format, or in a less expensive CD format. You will be amazed at how much information you will find there. Below is a page from the 1967 Coronet Factory Service Manual that explains how to remove the headlight switch.

If you do not own a copy of the 1967 Coronet Factory Service Manual, please let me know and I can give you a reference to a company that is licensed by Chrysler to reproduce these manuals as well as other important Mopar manuals such as Factory Parts Books and owners manuals.

The tool C-3824 that they refer to in the Factory Service Manual to remove the headlight switch bezel on the front side of the headlight switch is available through various Mopar aftermarket parts suppliers such as Vans Automotive Supply as seen in the Ebay auction link and picture that I've posted for this tool below. This same tool is also used to remove the windshield wiper and ignition switch bezels as well on 1966 and 1967 Coronets.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you Todd. It's my mission to help my fellow 1966 and 1967 Coronet owners whenever I possibly can, just as you and many others here in the DCR family do on a daily basis. Good friends helping good friends! Smile
