Richard, I haven't taken one apart for a while, but I think they actually used staples. That way the staple sunk in so the window didn't get scratched. I also think I've run into this problem in a Mustang about 17 years ago. I think I just used pop rivets and you couldn't tell.
On my convertible they have clips on the back that go into slots in the sheet metal. If you roll the window down all the way it makes it easier to replace them. Line up the tabs on the clips and push them down to place. The inside whiskers attach to a removable bracket similar to a hardtop. Also I bet if you remove the inner sheet metal that will allow you to shift the glass over to get better access to the outer whisker.
Hello Jeff,

I've never worked on a '66 or '67 B-Body convertible, so maybe their quarter window sheet metal is removable, but if we're both talking about the same quarter window inner sheet metal, on hardtops, there is a removable upper sheet metal cover that the inner whiskers are attached to, but the inner sheet metal itself is welded in place and it's been my experience that even with the quarter windows rolled completely down, it is still a royal pain to install the outer quarter whiskers. The front doors are just as bad, as there is no removable upper sheet metal cover to help install the inner whiskers, instead both the inner and the outer whiskers are attached directly to the inner and outer window lip sheet metal and getting those plastic tabs to line up with the slots in the door sheet metal is a challenge at best, as they never seem to line up correctly for me. Maybe that's due to the manufactures lousy reproduction parts I don't know, but all I do know is that I've had terrible luck trying to install them. Rantinging

OK that makes sense if the rear panel comes off..
Rich my Top cat whiskers had METAL clips on the ones that go on the outside of the window. They are also the sweeper type, just like my original ones, i.e. a rubber blade. as opposed to the inner whiskers that are just strip of whisker material.

That what mine looked like also
Tek, those clips should let you just slip it in I would think.
Yep they do on the OUTSIDE, but on the inside, just s fuzzie with NO tacks or anything. I do not even know where I can find the tacks to use on them! Will any tack do?
OK, you have my head spinning. LOL I thought you were having trouble with the outside rear ones. The inside ones you should be able to do on your lap. Are those the ones that are stapled?

I think my mind is worse than Richards, man I'm in trouble!

Tek,

I honestly don't know what the correct fasteners are for the inside rear quarter window whiskers and I've never seen anyone advertise them for sale, or worse yet, ever include them with the cat whisker sets themselves. Whatever you end up using though, they must be fairly flat or they could scratch your quarter window glass if they stick out too far from the whiskers.

As far as the locating tabs on the outer whiskers go, I will stand my personal observation that those tabs rarely line up correctly with the locating slots in the door sheet metal, at least on my '66.
