The three spoke wood grain steering wheel was an option for 1966 Coronets. All other 1966 Coronets that did not receive the wood grain wheel came with a plastic two spoke steering wheel that was offered in several different colors depending on the cars interior color. A black two spoke wheel that is correct for both 1965 and 1966 Coronets is shown below.

Exact replicas of the plastic 1965 and 1966 two spoke steering wheel are being reproduced in most of the original factory colors and while the three spoke wood grain wheel are being offered, they are not exact replicas of the factory wheel, at least from what I've seen.

And the correct (part number 2768 108) 1966 Coronet two spoke plastic steering wheel full horn ring. This full horn ring was used on all 1966 Coronet models except for the Base and Deluxe models or cars equipped with the three spoke wood grain steering wheel. The Base and Deluxe models used the same plastic two spoke steering wheels but came with a horn button rather than the full horn ring. The full horn rings are not being reproduced at this time, so only used parts are an option.

Look Rich & Richard - another '66 Coronet with the "Charger" padded cone shaped horn button!

As for the OP - the standard wheel is the 2-spoke. Optional was the 3-spoke wood grain wheel, If your car has a 3-spoke plastic wheel with a horn ring it is probably a '67 wheel - got a photo?

Jeff,

I honestly cringe every time I see a thread started regarding the 1966-67 wood grain steering wheels! Rofl

As far as the original 1966 and 1967 plastic steering wheels go, as Jeff mentioned, having a picture of your 66 Coronets steering wheel will clear things up, but below are two pictures showing what the 1966 and 1967 colored plastic steering wheels look like.

1966 Black two spoke plastic wheel with standard full horn ring.

1967 Red three spoke wheel with standard partial horn ring.

Ok then Dave, your car has the wood grain steering wheel which was an available upgrade option on the 1966 Coronets. I really hate to ask this question, but does your wood grain wheel have the metal center cap, or the padded center cap?

Richard

The metal center cap as shown on a 1966 Coronet

and the padded center cap as shown in a 1966 Charger
