I have seen manual adjuster set up on car Dana-60s mostly, but it might related to ratio optioned.
They did have self adjust before `68 The adjust star wheel is different on manual adjust, it has real course rounded teeth that are not directional

Both my '66's have self adjusters and I'm pretty sure my '64 had 'em too. Not sure when they became standard equipment.
