Finding My Old 67 R/T Coronet...
#11
Yes sir, It's one of the reproduction fiberglass 1967 WO23 Hemi scoops sitting on top of a steel hood from a '67 Coronet donor car so that I didn't have to cut a hole in my cars original hood for my fresh air set up.

Hello Tim,

It does an excellent job of sealing to the hood, but so we don't get off topic with Jeff's thread here, please check out my thread here on the DCR regarding my Coronets restoration in the "Coronet Restoration/Paint Shop/Body Shop" forum by using the link below. I talk about and show several pictures of my original and current fresh air set up and the foam that I used on page 2. Wink

Welcome Jeff, I hope you find your old RT. We'd love to see any old pics of the car no matter how bad. And yes we all regret selling our old cars. And no Mike, I only have one RT hardtop.

Jeff, Mikes giving me a hard time because I have a slight problem selling cars..,.

Update on my search. I got the paperwork back from the state about the VIN and titled owner now. Apparently they have changed a Policy and Now need me to provide the License Tag number from the R/T. I waited three weeks just to get let down like that *&%#@* Well, back to the drawing-board, I don't have the tag number. I lost all of my personal papers and things after a bad relationship in a storage unit. The only Idea I have left is to use my ability to be a dumb kid back then and see if I can get the info from an old arrest report that involved the car. The Police did impound the car once. I tried the Insurance company, they only keep records for 7 years not 25.

I'm not going to give up. On a good note, Now my Wife seems to be on board with my search!! YEAH! This means I can keep her when I find my R/T!!
As I think I've said, we are also looking to buy a new house at the same time and one criteria is to have a Garage for the R/T. We Almost got a nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath with a garage and a Detached drive thru garage. But we missed putting in the Contract on it by about 8 hours. Both My Baby's need a place to sleep!
Thanks for letten me VENT....I feel better now!Rantinging

As I've said, I NEVER Give up. The Arrest report didn't pan out, I called the Records office and they said "Yes, we would have that info from a Car Impound, what year was that?" I answered "September 2nd 1986" and they responded "Oh, sorry but our records only go back to 1988". After that I started calling buddies that I used to Race years ago for ideas (Sheesh Some I hadn't talked to in 25 years) They are looking for pictures of my car to see if they have my tag number that I need. After all of that I also tried another avenue and called the DMV inTallahassee Again and sweettalked a very nice girl there. From the info she gave me I should have the info I need by tomorrow night. I can only hope this is right. I will keep ya posted

What about other people you knew that might have taken a pic of it? Parties, get togethers, beach, other family?

I'm working on that part also. I have calls into quite a few people that I hung out with back then, just waiting to hear back now. The State DMV in Tallahassee didn't pan out either. I got a call this morning from the main supervisor who apparently monitored the call and on my voice-mail she said the girl I spoke with basically lied to me about how to get the info and there was no need for me to goto the Tax Collectors office. Although, I just got off the phone with a gentleman who runs a large Muscle Car Club in Southwest Florida. He claims to have seen my car and asked me to email him a pic of what it looked like. (LOL I sent him the Pic of BadMopar67's Car, Its Identical to mine except for the color) I'm now also working on writing a little script/program that will check the VIN numbers I can put together and check the serial numbers that were associated with an R/T that was built in the Newark, DE plant. With only 9,553 2dr hardtop R/T's if I write this correctly I should be able to find at least a matching number to research in a few days. Problem with this is I have no idea how ticked off I'll make the Vin check site with the timing of the requests. Sorry I know I just went into GEEKville mode. VIN so far is (WK23L76_ _ _ _ _ _) I'll keep plugging away. I'll find it one day, I just hope I haven't bored you all to tears in my quest along the way Smile

That sets off all sorts of alarms. "I've seen your car, send me a picture of it so I can modify this one I got here to look like it.."
