1967 R/T Coronet

In 1985 I was a Senior in High School and purchased my first car. It was a 1967 R/T Coronet, single owner and had been souped up a bit. Most was still original and all numbers matched. At the time I was 18 and really didn't understand what that meant. When I bought the car I lived in Severna Park Maryland, and on the weekends my buddies who were gear-heads and I would go to “Capitol Race Way” and see what our cars would do. I so loved those times and learning about the cars. I later moved to Naples, Florida and took the car with me. I drove the car and street raced for a few years after that, till I ran into some financial issues and was forced to sell my BABY.

I had bought the R/T for $2,000.00 in 1985 then in (I believe it was) 1989 when I sold it for $2,250.00
God I wish I had known then what I know now about that car. The only thing wrong with the R/T when I sold it was, The fuel pump was bad, the motor mount had broken and cracked the headers and the power steering unit leaked.

When I bought the R/T it was Metallic Jade Green, Black interior, 440 Mag, 727 Torque-Flight Trans. The hood scoop on the car was an after market HEMI scoop, but the hood was original under that. I sold the car to a gentleman named Mike that owned a carpet business in Naples, Florida. He took the car to his garage and striped it to the frame and re-built it. I saw the car after he finished it a year later. It was painted 1985 Corvette Midnight Blue. The car was beautiful.

I have just finished filling out the paperwork to send to the DMV to find the VIN and the titled owner now. I can only hope two things. The Car still exists, and that he may be interested in selling it back to me.

Any Ideas if The DMV doesn't come through would be appreciated.

Thanks

P.S. Thank you for accepting me in your Forum, as you can see I am new here I am not Worthy Coronet R/T
Welcome to the forum Jeff, it sounds like it was a great car. I think everyone of us kicks ourselves for selling a car in the past, but we gotta do what we gotta do.

Once you get the VIN, post it here. You never know, someone here might own it. (Most likely someone in Massachusetts)
Welcome Jeff ! Good luck to find the car.
Welcome!!

Welcome to the site I hope you find the car.!
Good luck in your search Jeff.

Any old pics to share ?
Welcome to the DCR Jeff and you're a very lucky man if you only have ONE car that you regret selling! Wink I wish you the very best of luck bringing this cool '67 R/T home.

Richard
I have Owned an 81 Jag and also an 81 Corvette. I would love to have been able to say I liked them for more then the Financial Prestige But I can't. There is No Rumble in the World like when your R/T sits at the christmas tree and waits for the Green light and the way the hood shakes. That Sound, That Feel....NOTHING feels like that. Its what you either built or helped to build and you are in control of how fast it goes (In many more ways then one) Its Just Amazing and I want that Back!!!

Not sure if I should say sorry for my passion or Your Welcome! Smile
Jeff, I know EXACTLY what you're saying about your feelings for your '67 R/T at the drag strip! My '66 and me will be together 25 years this summer and their isn't a square inch on the car that I haven't worked on in those 25 years, so it's become so much more to me than just a car you know? These old cars really aren't about the parts and pieces that they are made of, they are ALL about the strong passions they give us for owing, working on and maintaining them. Wink

It's been many years since my '66 500 and me have been at the race track, but one thing that NOBODY can take away, is your memories! I truly do hope that you are able to find your original '67 R/T, but if not, maybe there will be another one out there that you could make just as many good memories with?

Richard
Thats the Hemi Scoop I had on mine! Smile
