Hello Rich,
Yes sir, thanks to Mike spending a week with Rosie, Kita and me a couple of weeks ago, I do now have a brand new Lunati Voodoo hydraulic camshaft and a set of new matching Lunati hydraulic lifters, along with a brand new Lunati heavy duty 3 bolt design double roller timing chain and gear set. We also installed my mint condition dual plane Edelbrock CH4B intake manifold and a new 1/2" RPC phenolic spacer. The new camshaft is a couple of steps down performance wise from the Mopar Performance .284 .484 camshaft that I had in my 440 since 1991 when the engine was originally built and installed, but it still has a nice idle lope and it meets my current and future needs for the car perfectly. This new camshaft also produces 19 inches of vacuum at idle compared to only 7 to 8 inches of vacuum that the Mopar cam produced at idle. This also meant that Mike and I were also remove the noisy and ineffective aftermarket electric vacuum pump and all of it's related parts from the car. The power assisted front disc, rear drum brakes now operate MUCH better due to the increased vacuum, so two very difficult problems on my Coronet were solved!
Mike also installed the beautiful M/T valve covers that he gave me a year ago or so that I had repainted and buff out, but we ran into a valve cover gasket leak on the passenger side M/T cover, so due to us running out of time before he had to leave, we had to remove the M/T covers and reinstall my stamped steel chrome Direct Connection valve covers for now. I just purchased a new oval 15" finned and polished aluminium air cleaner on Ebay yesterday that will match the M/T cover perfectly after I get the lid painted orange and have the fins buffed out to match the M/T covers, so I'm really looking forward to getting those parts in place soon!
Below are a couple of pictures of my 440 after the new camshaft, lifters, timing chain set, CH4B intake manifold and M/T valve covers were installed. Mike also made a short video of the 440 running that I've also posted below.
To say that this work would not have been possible without Mike's help can not be stressed enough, so saying THANK YOU to Mike for all that he did just isn't enough, but he knows how extremely thankful Rosie, Rick and I are for his help on the Coronet and Rick's Dart and more importantly, how very much we treasure his friendship!
Richard
