My 67 Coronet revers back up lights are always on when the car is running. I pulled the bulbs to keep from getting a ticket.
I assumed it was switched at the tranny (727)
Going to dig into this on my car.
Thanks!
I think they went to the 3-prong reverse/neutral safety combo switch in '68

Fixed mine on my 67. The switch was out of alignment.
Always had back up lights on idling in park. Assumed they stayed on..
With some inspection. There is a hole you can slide a paper clip sized rod into. Slid the button till all 3 holes line up. Incert paper clip. Install switch till it contacts the steering sector lug in park position and tighten down.
Now it's timed and adjusted to the steering sector.
Easy fix for me!
Before you throw out your switch.? Check it with a ohm meter. It will only show contintunity in one certain spot as you slide the switch!
Beer time!

Update: use 3/32 drill bit to clock the switch. Once done you pull out the bit.
Paper clip too small. Not good enough because we are fussy folks!

Hello All
I was able to take it apart and the contacts are worn down so much it will not make contact. Might have gotten it to work ,,but when I was putting it back together one of the springs went flying off into the garage ..Looked for hours ,so I guess its gone for good.
Thanks for all the help .
Jeff
