66 to 67 front end
#1
I own a 1967 Dodge Coronet.
I have some questions relating to my 67 Coronet.
I have decoded the VIN and the Fender Tag, see attachments.
My main question is:
My car is definitely a 1967, per the VIN and Fender Tag, however it had a complete 66 grille assembly, 66 front bumper, and the radiator support that goes from fender to fender is also a 66 because the headlight buckets are spot welded to the radiator support. My car is painted dark blue but in many places under the hood and in the interior and the trunk I can still see the original color, which is Medium Turquoise, per the Fender Tag. Would it be possible for this 1967 car to have been built in February 1967 and still have 1966 front end installed at the factory? I did scratch some of the Turquoise area and only saw bare metal underneath. Do you know if the fenders are interchangeable between the 66 and 67 Coronets?

Any other information you can share about this subject will be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

The headlight buckets are welded to the fenders, not the radiator support. Most likely you have a 67 with a 66 nose bolted on due to an accident. Try to find the number located on the top of the radiator support. The first or second digit should be a 7 indicating the year. If it's not, then the radiator support might have been changed too.

I'm no expert.
But I'd say yes on the fenders, hood and bumpers. They will physically fit! 66/67 grills are totally different. Yet will swap over.
I would bet someone changed the grill assembly to a 66 due to a crash. And it was handy at the time it was needed.

You've got a legit car, but like the rest of the guys said, looks like an accident and they had 66 pieces handy.
Objects quickly DISAPPEAR in the rearview mirror and PLEASE stay seated until the ride comes to a complete stop!!
