Putting new throttle cable on tomorrow. A few questions.
#1
I will be putting a new throttle cable on tomorrow by myself and would appreciate some guidance. I have a few questions.

#1 After I disconnect the cable at both end, will I slide it out into the car, or under the hood. The metal piece that butts up against the firewall. Is this attached/has to be unscrewed, or will the entire thing just pop out?

#2 Im pretty sure the cable I have is going to be a tad to long. So How do I attach it to the gas pedal with the extra length of cable?

Thanks in advance for assistance.

So more confusion. The housing for the original cable looks fine to me. Can I take the new cable out of its housing and just run it through the original. Allowing me to keep the new one should it be needed in the future?

Because the cable is longer then what I need is there a way to make the adjustment? Will I have to modify the cable housing at all?

Did you purchase an oem style cable or a universal like Lokar?

OK that looks like it should work. You leave it assembled though, dont take it apart.
The biggest thing it to make sure you have a little slack in cable at idle with choke open and at full throttle also or it will break something.

Did you get old one out yet?

No the old one is still in. So Do I need to remove the housing from the old one as well then?

Im assuming if I am leaving it together I will need to feed it through the firewall from the engine side?

Also, I need the 24" one but had to get the 26". How do I adjust it to remove the extra cable?

You remove the old one as an assembly that looks like the new one. Remove the clip at firewall inside by gas pedal and then remove little black plastic retainer on gas pedal that keeps cable from popping off (easy to loose so whatchout). Then pull out from under hood. 7 1/6 wrench used to remove from throttle bracket. Don't over tighten when reinstalling or it will break off, right where that nut is this is where you make your final adjustment with new one.

OK, thanks for the info. Going to look at it tonight when I get home to make sure I have it figured out in my head. The cable in it right now is a bicycle cable so no plastic retainer. And im pretty sure the piece at the firewall doesn't have a clip.

Will look tonight and report back if I have any more questions.

Thanks so much for your time!!
