Green vs tapered
#1
Ok, time to renew the old green vs tapered axle bearing debate..

I run greens, been running them for close to 20yrs no problems. Twisted the splines on a set of stock axles with em. Put em on Mosers I replaced them with. o problems until I stopped doing straight line and started pushing the twisting turns in my area and get a shuddering. repacked front bearings, they were fine, not loose at all. (backing out of driveway down hill without pushing pistons back on calipers, different story)

thoughts? Could the greens and their rumored side load issues be cause? I plan on swapping out the back rims to eliminate them, but rather get opinions from real mopar folk on them. I know sealed bearings are good, because every modern RWD car uses them without a problem, including Hellcats and 170's.. so they do work.

then again, maybe I need more alcohol... add it to blue to see if she'll dip into the 12's..
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

I think greens would be ok especially if you had rear disc brakes or a spool drag racing.
Why run them other wise? Maybe because you do not have all the correct parts to run tappered? I get it.
I tried them and went back to tappered because one failed.
Mike says I drive like an old man but thats because he was about to rip my arm rest off when I barely punched it.

I have greenies in my coronet, they’ve been in there since 2001 or so, no problems with them. I did replace the tapered bearings in the junkyard 8.75 in my desoto because they were humming. I’m putting another 8.75 in my Dakota that has greenies because I already have them. So I think they are both good bearings and I’ve never had a problem with either.

And I was gripping the armrest hoping that thing could go faster... pulling out like that in front of traffic in something that has this in the back window is just dangerous

Clearly there's allot of jealousy going on with you and how much faster Max is than Ol Blue.

I love Ol Blue but....MAX IS GONNA SPANK IT !!!
P.s. never did see that time slip you bragged about.

That's because you didn't take your gingo biloba this week and forgot I told you the dog ate it....

Lets settle this once and for all... load up Max on a trailer (cause we know at his speeds it take a month to get here), we'll race at a true historic track (the one Garlits broke 200mph at) and we'll see who gets to hand over the pink slip...
