I just bought a 65 coronet, it has a 273 automatic currently, the 273 has had it and I'm thinking about pulling it and replacing everything. Here's the question I have access to a 1974 318/torque flight combination out of a 74 dart which runs fine, I'm not looking for a drag car, I want it to stay stock which makes me want this 318 to work. The question is, will this unit drop right in without complications and what will be needed additional?
Thanks for all your help, Dan.

It should drop right in using the motor mounts from the 273. The only issue that comes to me right now will be the water pump. You will have to use the one off of the 273. The one on the later motor is different and won't work with your radiator.

Someone told me this car has a cable shift, if so will that hook up to the torque flight? Here's another thing I just thought of, the interior is mint, except the center console door will not latch. It appears that it's suppose to latch under the metal lip of the console, is this true? if so why won't the door go down enough to catch? I thought there was some sort of catch assembly that might bolt to the plastic box assembly. Thanks.

You will have to use the 65 transmission. Cable shift transmissions are different the output/drive shaft is different too. I can't help with the console door.
