I went and looked at a 66 2door yesterday, the body is straight. All the exterior trim is there, but there is no engine or interior, even the dash has been taken out. The car has a clutch pedal in it, he said it had a 383 when he got it. He wants $4000, he wont budge a single bit on his price! He wont even let me take pictures of it, he is quite the jerk to put it nicely, anyway is the car worth what he wants for it? Or should I just wait for another?

Yah, keep quiet about it, one of these days he will contact you or place an ad and it will be for much less than 4 grand. No dash or interior, ouch, that hurts! Maybe could make a good drag race project? Personally, I would wait for another more complete car. His car to me is not worth more than $500 unless the body is in great shape. Did you get to see the data plate on the front door pillar? Any papers with it, does it have a title even?

Unless that's a 426 car, run!!! Got my 66, drove it home 60 miles with a gorgeous body for very little more.

I could only look at the thing, he wouldn't let me open the doors or trunk unless I showed him some cash. That made me really leery!

Walk. I had a buddy drop 45k on a beautifully bodied 69 roadrunner with a crate 440 in it. Problem? Didn't run. He's hiding finer points. Keep trolling Craigslist and think out of the box. Don't be discouraged. The hunt is part of the fun.

This sounds like a case of his wife wants him to sell the car, so he's going thru the motions to sell it, but has no intentions of selling it.
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.
i agree .... It does raise some flags that he wont let you really look at the car ... keep looking, you wont regret it!
Good luck!

I'm not discouraged by any means, I looked for my 72 custom for 3 years. Finally found a good one, only paid 300 & I drove it home.
