Hi new to web site. I'm thinking about making the switch on my 1967 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible to 4 speed do you have to also change out the drive shaft or can I use the one from the auto transmission/

First off, welcome to the Dodge Coronet website! You will find lots of friendly and helpful folks here!

Nothing answers your question any better than a few pages from my 1967 Factory Parts Book. These three pages show all of the measurements and part numbers for all of the 1967 A-Body, B-Body, C-Body, Chrysler and Imperial models. For your 1967 B-Body Coronet, you will want to look at the listings for the "W" models.

The factory model codes for each car line is located at the bottom of each page but here they are to make them easier to find.

V = Plymouth Valiant models
L = Dodge Dart models
R = Plymouth Belvedere, Satellite and GTX models
W = Dodge Coronet and Dodge Charger models
P = Plymouth C-Body models
D = Dodge C-Body models
C = Chrysler models
Y = Imperial models

Here are two more pages from the 1967 Factory Parts Book that will help to explain the model and chassis codes used in the propeller shaft part listings.

I hope this helps.

So the driveshafts are different. Only 0.030" difference in length so length is okay. The A833 is listed as having a 3 1/4 diameter shaft and the 727 is 2 3/4 diameter. Most likely the A833 has the larger 7290 u joints and I am 98% sure the 727 with a 383 has the smaller 7260 u joints.

So my interpretation is that the driveshaft will work but is a weaker version than original. Remember that if you go with larger u joints you need to change the rear end yoke also.

Here are the remaining propeller shaft and related part number listings along with an additional diagram from the 1967 Factory Parts Book so you can see what parts were used on different applications.
