1967 Coronet R/T - 1st MOPAR in years

Hello to all,

I've been a long time MOPAR fan and have owned several in the past - '69 & '70 Road Runners, '69 GTX, '70 Cuda, '67 Coronet 440, '68 Coronet R/T, most of them had 440s, couple of them were 383s all of them were 727 automatics. So, after many, many years, I decided before I got too old, I'd have one more MOPAR to ride out into the sunset with - so I found a '67 Coronet R/T that is a 20 footer - body and undercarriage is solid - the bottom of the LH rear quarter was patched paneled, but the rest is good - the motor has been changed to a '72 440 smog motor. Runs good and the seat covers and carpets have been replaced, so the interior looks pretty good - most of the trim inside and out is pitted and will have to be either re-plated or powder coated.

I've got plans for the motor - it should have around 500 hp when finished, not bad for a cruiser. I don't have plans to run it on the strip, although it might get ran down one a couple of times, just to see what it can do. Trans will be gone thru, shift kit, torque converter, B&M shifter. Sure grip rear end to replace the open one in it now - front disc brake conversion and new rear leafs will pretty much round out the drivetrain upgrades - body will be painted, new wheels and tires - you all know the drill - many of you have done it many more times than I have.

I've been away from the automotive arena for quite some time, I closed my NAPA store almost 16 years ago and haven't been involved with anything automotive since - so it's interesting to see what advancements have been made.

It's also interesting to get into a 'boat' to drive these days after driving the newer smaller cars - back in the 'good old days' those boats were all we drove and it was no big deal - now I have to get used to manual steering something that takes up most of the width of a lane! LOL - watch out world...

I thought the R/T would be my last hot rod, but I just picked up a sweet 1965 Coronet 440 with a built drivetrain, great body and interior. It does need a few things looked at, but what car doesn't? I saw a '65 after I bought the '67 and really liked it - so I started shopping for the '65 replacement for the '67. I'll sell the R/T after doing work that should have already been done. I don't have a picture of it on this iPad, so I'll have to post a picture later.
