1968 Coronet vin #'s, what's the earliest known or registered ?
#1
I am curious as to the earliest 1968 Coronet vin # known or registered...... I just bought a project car, last six are 100384.
Scheduled build date on the fender tag says 730, July 30th/67. That would be first day of production............

Sounds like you found one of the early show cars. I assume it was built at Lynch Road. W***L8A. Does the So number start with an A or a 9?
Any more details on the car? 4 door 2 door?

Actually it is a St.Louis car, it is a Coronet 500 convertible.
The So # start with an A.....does that mean something ?

Yes, it means it was built for sale in Canada. I didn't know if it would be designated a "Canada" car or a "show car".

I'd love to see a copy of the BS with the notification on it. I've never seen that before.

It's hard to match VINs and SPDs on 68 cars as they are not both called out on the fender tag. You have to have the SPD from the tag and the VIN from the VIN plate on the dash or other document like a window sticker. I'm not saying it will be impossible to find an earlier car. It's just more difficult on a '68.

I just joined as a member. 730 in 1967 was a Sunday. I own a show car US that was built on 801 in 1968 for the 1969 model year, which according to Galen was the first day of production. Would you share your build sheet, as i am happy to show you mine?

As the original thread is over two years old and MoparJohnny never posted again, I doubt that you will get a response. However, I would very much like to know more about your car.

Thanks for the heads up on the other poster, what would you like to know about my car or documentation? From your handle, do you own a 69 Coronet?
