Just a note on that welding repair, some lesser quality joints use nylon/plastic sockets for the ball socket and the heat will ruin that and be loose as a goose before you even get it back on the car. On my own vehicle I might in a pinch have done just what you did Todd, you did good you fixed what had at the time.
But that is why I only recommended a new arm and not even brought up the tack weld method.
