Love the coke sign on your website!

You know what. The whole rear axle could do with a rebuild. It'd original and tired. I wheel cylinder wasn't that old, but I had been driving it with a faulty master cylinder so I guessed it might have extended the pistons or something weird. One was locked out so hard, I pulled it apart and cleaned it up. Pumped some fluid through the hard line as there was some grit inside the wheel cylinder. I think now the bleeding nipple might be clogged.

About the axle seal. I am sure that's gone too unless it's just all wet everywhere from all the leaking brake fluid over time. There's always something. haha

And thank you, regarding the Coke sign. Man that was a blast. Just in my apprenticeship and I was painting all the Coke signage around town. In Australia, working in a galvanised shed workshop, it was a bonus when the Coke rep would swing in and drop off a case of Coke and also Mello Yello!

Brake fluid soaks up moisture, so might have some rust in the lines that causing the grit. Many times the pistons in the wheel cylinders will freeze up due to rust if sitting for long time. Good thing is they didnt change the design on them over the years so still pretty readily available, or can usually buy a rebuild kit that came with all the internals and outside seal.
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

It was definitely debris. I removed the bleeder from the back of the master cylinder, used a pick and pulled some out of that. The wheel cylinder was still pretty new, so I cleaned it up and put it back together. Had my wife pump the brakes while I checked both the master cylinder (as it is brand new and just installed), took the drum off and checked everywhere for any fluid leaks and all was good. I got clean and clear brake fluid coming out of the bleeder when the wife pushed the pedal to the floor. And the brakes apply firmly and release completely. So good news is that the brakes are a success. Next is to sort out why my auto column shift isn't syncing with what gear it's actually in.
